There’s nothing like a makeup product launch – amazing event combo, in my book. Even though I’ve had my fair share over the years, while working as a Beauty Editor for “The One” magazine, none came close to the sheer perfection that was the launch of Avon’s Ultra Color Indulgence Lipsticks & Super Extend Winged Out Mascara.
The amount of work, preparation and creativity that made this day possible is worthy of an award, especially since the idea of transforming the participants into their childhood idols was not a global campaign, but a local one, implemented by our very own, The Practice. Chapeau to the team!
After a session of drawings and games that hinted the star products of the day, myself and my team of beauty editors were asked to go on a treasure hunt to find them. In one room we discovered the Ultra Color Indulgence Lipstick and in the other, the Super Extend Winged Out Mascara.
We swatched and tried on the amazing colors that each of us found, we admired the glide on textures and the amazing intensity of the shades until the excitement build and build. Before I reveal my transformation, I’m going to do the same to you and tell you more about the latest launches from Avon Cosmetics.
Avon Ultra Color Indulgence Lipsticks
Formulated with hydrating gels instead of wax, the traditional ingredient found in lipsticks, the Color Indulgence lipstick range offer the comfort of lip glosses and the intensity of lipsticks.
These glide on the lips effortlessly, feel smooth and don’t dry out the lips at all. There’ perfect for a daily splash of color and act as a lip balm.
Although I am a fan of matte finish lipsticks, the fact that they tend to dry out my lips doesn’t make them suitable for everyday use. If you’re as picky as I am, you also probably hate the sticky finish that most lip glosses have.
That’s why most women, myself included, choose comfort over color for a daytime look and stick to barely there tinted lip balms. If you fall into this category, then the Ultra Color Indulgence Lipsticks from Avon will definitely be the right product for you.
I seriously love the formula of these lipsticks. They feel nice to wear, they keep my lips moisturized and protected, they’re not sticky at all and they are available in plenty of color options to satisfy all tastes and skin tones.
The range contains 20 shades of glossy, vibrant hues – from neutral and soft pinks to bright corals and fuchsias, deep reds and luscious burgundies.
My color is Red Dahlia, a beautiful deep red-burgundy shade, that looks amazing on every women with cool undertones. I expected the darker shades to be less pigmented, however I found the intensity quite pleasing. It’s pretty intense as it is and combined with a good lip liner pencil, the color won’t bleed or smudge for several hours. It’s fairly long lasting, as well, considering the texture is so light you don’t even feel it on.
Overall, I am truly in love with this lipstick. Seriously, try it on!
Avon Super Extend Winged Out Mascara
There’s a new trend that’s making its way through the runways this spring and naturally, every brand is sharing its take. In 2015, the baby doll eyes, with long, curled, winger out lashes are making a comeback, alongside many colored mascara options.
I’ve already tried a bunch of new launches in the mascara department and frankly, the search continues. So far, I’ve went from fan effect, to manga look and every one of them would clump my lashes together, adding density, but not length.
The new Avon mascara proved to be different. It has a feather-inspired brush, with fine filigree bristles to coat every lash you have. Because it’s tapered and the formula is not so dense, but fluid, it lifts lashes up and out, just like it said it would. For those of you who lack length and volume and prefer lash definition, Avon’s Super Extend Winged Out Mascara is definitely something worth trying.
I love the fact that it separates my lashes without getting clumpy and that it layers well, a must have in order to get the length that you desire.
This mascara is available in three shades – Blackest Black, Brown-Black and Black, so it’s super user-friendly, regardless of preferences.
It’s clump and flake-proof, however it does tend to smudge after a few hours. Cleaning up the under eye area is a must with this products, but considering the price per value, I still think it can work.
Avon Dress Up Party: becoming Madonna
Now that you’ve got a glimpse behind the scenes on the makeup tables and discovered the stars of the look, it’s time for the big reveal.
Thanks to the combined efforts of makeup artists, hair stylists and wardrobe designers, I transformed into none other than…Madonna. The purpose of this elaborate and well-coordinated campaign was to help us all get in touch with our inner child, our hopes and dreams growing up.
I’m sure there isn’t anyone out there who didn’t sneak out and tried her mother’s lipstick and high heels and gave the performance of their lifetime in front of the mirror. Today, I got the chance to embody the idol that meant so much to me growing up, to regain the confidence and courage that each of us have as kids.
Now I know that a power pose, a dress up party and a bold lip is all I need to be confident about how I think, look and feel. Our bodies change our minds and our minds change our behavior. Have faith in yourself! That is a huge message coming from a cosmetics company. Congrats, Avon!
