Best BB Creams & CC Creams for your skin type

We barely had the chance to discover the ABCs of BB Creams, when a new multitasking formula rolled over the counters, promoting itself as the new and improved product on the market that merges skin care and makeup: the CC Cream.

After last year’s it items, the Blemish Balms, proved to be products that catered to women with dry skin, acting as a makeup base or a primer, beauty brands were soon expected to come up with a product that served the needs of more than just those with perfect skin and the need for extra moisture and SPF.

Thus CC Creams were created, in an effort to provide a suitable product for both oily skin and acne prone skin, as for dry skin. Moreover, the new creams of the year have a lighter texture, that blends more easily, can actually correct and even out skin tones and offer a wider array of shades that suit both women with pale skin, as well as those with medium or dark skin tone.

Short for “color correcting”, CC picks up where its predecessor left off, setting out to be the solution to all your beauty problems and the perfect multi-purpose product for those of you looking for cosmetics that cover up blemishes and even skin tone, while treating the skin with long-term benefits. To set it, just use CC Powders, the modern color-correcting powders that will disguise any skin imperfections you might have.

Best BB, CC & DD Creams:

The more you read about the CC Creams vs BB Creams and the difference between the two, the easier it will be to understand which product is right for your skin type.

However, I think it’s safe to say Color Correcting Creams will be more successful among consumers with combination or oily skin in their 30s and 40s, who are turning away from makeup and looking more towards products with long-term benefits, whilst Blemish Balms will be preferred by young women with dry skin with close to perfect complexions, who only need semi-sheer coverage.

Regardless, I’ve prepared a guide for you with top picks from the brands that launched BBs and CCs or have announced such products for 2013.

You’ll come across the best bb cream for oily skin or for acne prone skin, products that cover up acne scars, best bb cream for pale skin or for medium skin (an issue for most women when it comes to BBs) and also the best cc creams on the market.

Best BB & CC Cream based on texture

The texture of most BB Creams lack the smoothness you would normally need for an easy application, an even stronger issue since the product addresses to dry skin and should have a certain texture to glide evenly and not leave blotchy spots.

Finding the perfect product among such an array of Beauty Balms can be tricky, so I recommend using one that has enough coverage to replace your foundation for everyday use and help illuminate your skin, due to its slightly peachy undertone. Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector SPF 15 also has the big advantage of blending flawlessly and hiding enlarged pores.

However, if you’re not keen on using the Garnier BB version, perhaps due to the fact that the product is more suitable for dry skin and might not help those with oily skin, I suggest to look at the first CC Cream launched by a western brand, Olay Total Effects 7-in-One Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer SPF 15.

Best BB and CC Cream texture

Best BB and CC Cream texture

The dual-phase, swirled formula is ultra-light, so it probably won’t replace your foundation, yet the texture glides on evenly, giving the skin a subtle glow. It is also a product of choice for fair-to-light women and it holds a special place in the best cc creams for pale skin.

Wet n Wild Coverall Cream Foundation is also an option that is valued for its texture and for its affordable price. Its formula minimizes the look of wrinkles, hidrates and offers sheer-to-medium coverage, with a semi-matte finish.

Embryolisse BB Cream Complexion Illuminating Veil brightens the face and provides a radiant sheen to your complexion. Its formula contains hyaluronic acid, which makes it ultra light and glides on easily and evenly. This BB Cream is great for pale skin and will give you a subtle, yet noticeable glow.

Best BB & CC Creams for pale skin

Although most Beauty Balms have been criticized due to the fact that few of them catered to pale skin, there are some that managed to make a difference in the array of products launched. Being part of the fair skin community, I have personally tried a bunch of products before deciding on a winner.

From what I could find, Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 is one of the most compatible tone to pale skin, probably because of the fact that it comes from Korea, where fair skin is not uncommon. Its corrective tone counteracts blemishes and redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones. It leaves a dewy finish and soothes the skin thanks to its water-based formula.

Best BB and CC Cream for pale skin

Best BB and CC Cream for pale skin

If you’re seeking a CC Cream that also has these qualities and is suitable for pale skin, then your first choice should be Chanel CC Cream, a product so far only launched in Asia, that caters to fair and sensitive skin, to doe its cornflower water formula, moisturizes with the help of hyaluronic acid, contains SPF 30 and PA++ and evens out imperfections.

Those with fairest-in-all-the-land complexions have found their match in Wei Chinese Licorice CC Cream, a product that evens out skin tone, hides redness and, thanks to the special ingredient that names it – the Chinese licorice – it lightens discolorations and refines skin tone.

Best BB & CC Creams for medium skin & dark complexions

If you have medium skin, the best choices for you are Garnier Skin Renew Skin Miracle Perfector BB Cream, a hybrid formula that renews radiance, brightens complexion, evens skin tone, hydrates and protects with SPF15 UVA/UVB sunscreen and Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector SPF 30, a sheer formula with a smooth texture that blends easily.

Maybelline’s BB for dark skin is a warm, caramel tint, that helps counteract gray or sallow tones common for darker complexions.

Best BB & CC Creams for medium skin

Best BB & CC Creams for medium skin

Also targeted to medium and dark skin is the new Olay Total Effects CC Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer, that prides itself on covering fine lines, wrinkles and age spots and evening out the skin tone. This product is recommended to those of you that target dark spots, as it contains N-acetyl glucosamine and niacinamide—a combination shown to reduce discoloration in as few as six weeks. However, I wouldn’t recommend the product to someone who’s skin is other than very dry.

Caudalie Teint Divin Mineral Tinted Moisturizer instantly moisturizes, evens ad illuminates the complexion. It’s available in only two shades, that are self-adjustable for a natural finish but in my opinion better suited for medium or dark skin tone, with yellow undertone. This anti-oxidant and hyaluronic acid packed BB Cream evens out the skin tone and provides a healthy glow, thanks to its peachy undertone and finely milled gold particles. It’s also great if you have sensitive skin!

Dior Diorsnow UV Shield BB Creme and 3Lab Perfect BB can also block pigment-producing enzymes in the skin with patented lighteners.

Another top choice for those of you with medium or dark skin is Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector, a product that caters to those with tan or yellow undertone and has great coverage.

This product evens out skin tone and supports collagen, minimizing the appearance of imperfections. I advice against buying it if you’re pale or have cool toned skin, as it might look to orange.

Top CC & BB Creams for photos – best coverage & matte products

If you want your make-up base to look good in photos, evening out skin tone, covering imperfections and having the perfect combination of matte & dewy finish are essential aspects to take into consideration.

Frankly, in my opinion, there is no Blemish Balm or Color Correcting cream that can do this task better than a proper foundation, and as a make-up artist, I wouldn’t try it to save my life. However, there are some products in the categories mentioned above that perform better than others.

Stila Stay All Day 10-in1 HD Beauty Balm is one of those products, as it contains ingredients that diffuse light and camouflage wrinkles and pores. While most BB creams leave a dewy finish, this light reflecting cream is more matte and therefore more suitable for camera time.

Best BB & CC Creams for photos

Best BB & CC Creams for photos

You can also bet on Dior Hydra Life BB Creme SPF 30 PA+++ if you’re looking for a product that provides full coverage. It’s one of the most pigmented of any I’ve sampled, but sadly, not the most suitable for pale skin, as it has an orange undertone. However, medium skin tones seeking to add warmth to their complexions will be most pleased with this product.

Among the best Blemish Balms ever is also the Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35, that comes in a variety of shades suited for fair, medium and dark skin. It provides a matte finish, and the texture is just right.

As for the perfect CC Cream for photos, I would have to go with Wei East Wei To Go Beauty Ideal Skin, as it covers brown spots, smooths out wrinkles and evens out skin tone. The best part is that you get a customizable coverage and there’s nothing you want more for a photo shoot than this.

Best BB Cream and CC Cream for oily skin

The perfect BB cream for oily skin must provide excellent coverage, last all day and control shine. You therefore have to look for oil-free products, that also moisturizes and evens the complexion.

One of the most apreciated Blemish Balm in that cathegory is L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream, a product that contains capsules that release pigment once you blend it into the skin. What’s interesting about this product, besides the fact that it gives a smooth, matte finish, is that it tells you how much blending is necessary to gain a complete coverage.

BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream is another anti-oxidant, anti-aging and nourishing BB cream with nutrition from deep ocean water and flower extracts. It absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

If you’re looking for a BB that is good for oily skin, but also suited for sensitive skin, Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is the answer to all your questions, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

Best BB Creams for oily skin

Best BB Creams for oily skin

Another helpful suggestion for those of you with oily skin is looking towards the new and improved formula of CC Creams, that differ from BBs primarily because they provide a matte finish, a must for all those dealing with oily skin.

Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream has SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or skin type. I believe it to be a perfect choice for those with oily skin.

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that corrects redness. Lorac’s CC cream is oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

It leaves a natural looking, flawless and semi matte finish, while at the same time nourishing your skin with moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants like vitamins A, C & E, aloe, chamomile, calendula, white peony, green and white tea.

Rachel K CC Cream is an original Korrean formula, that offers oil control, moisture, color control, brightening and skin lightening ingredients, allowing for skin tone and texture improvements. Its mousee like formula contains white tea, vitamin C and E, anti-aging and tone correcting ingredientes.

Best BB and CC Cream for acne prone skin

If you have oily and acne prone skin, there are several BB and CC options to consider. Among those, one you should definitely try is Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream, an oil free product, packed with antioxidants (vitamins C, E, EGT, Eukarion) that tempers shine and moisturizes with hyaluronic acid.

It gives your skin a healthy look, evens tone and has a creamy texture. Instead of mattifying, which can leave the skin looking dull and aged, this sheer formula gives the skin a radiant glow.

Also shown not to cause acne is Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, a fragrance free, oil control product, that doesn’t leave a chalky finish and actualy claims it improves skin moisture in four weeks. We also love it because of its anti-aging and skin tone correcting ingredients (malic acid, AHA, caffeine) and mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage.

Best BB Creams for acne prone skin

Best BB Creams for acne prone skin

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream is another option that caters to oily and acne prone skin, as well as sensitive skin. Its formula is fragrance free, it contains antioxidants, covers imperfections and has a brightening effect on the skin. This Blemish Balm contains caffeine to soften lines and vitamin E and seaweed extract to control oil production, which will help your makeup stay on longer. The mineral pigments will cover fine lines and minor blemishes, but they’re not enough for serious discoloration.

One BB that is strictly targeted toward those with acne or break-out prone skin is Aveeno Clear Complexion BB Cream, an oil free formula that contains the brand’s famous total soy complex.

Best BB & CC Creams for acne

Best BB & CC Creams for acne

For uneven complexions, I recommend Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream, a product that not only covers dark spots with its medium coverage formula, bun also promises to even out skin tone in four weeks.

Jane Iredale BB Cream works well for those of you who are looking for a non-comedogenic product, excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin. It is available in six shades and had SPF 25.

Keep at bay your acne problems by using one of these BB & CC Creams.

Best for sensitive skin – BBs & CCs that won’t make you break out

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 makes the transition between products suitable for photos and those that cater to sensitive skin. Because the brands is best known for its primers, there is no surprise that they came up with a fantastical BB Cream.

Their product is fragrance-free (unlike most of its kin), so it’s perfect if you’ve got sensitive skin or you’re allergic to fragrances.

For those of you who suffer from rosacea or a more severe type of redness, I recommend Dr. Jart+ Renewalist BB Beauty Balm, a cream with niacinamide, that can increase the skin’s production of ceramides and essential fatty acids, thus calming inflammation and sensitive skin.

Best BB and CC Creams for sensitive skin

Best BB and CC Creams for sensitive skin

Also, Boscia BB Cream reduces redness with jojoba leaf and willow herb extract, has a light formula that gives a youthful glow, evens out skin tone and is least likely to trigger breackouts.

Bioderma Sensibio Anti-Redness BB Cream is another great product for sensitive, redness prone skin. It has a great texture and it provides medium coverage and a broad spectrum sun protection. More information on this product is available in my complete Bioderma BB Cream review.

If you’re looking for a product that is made with certified organic ingredients, than Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream is the only choice that I know to be available. Its formula contains aloe, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, borage seed oil and antioxidants like vitamins A, B and C. It also has anti-aging & skin correcting ingredients and is said to reduce in proportion of 96% dark circles around the eyes.

Find out which are the top picks for sensitive skin, that is prone to break outs here.

Best BB and CC Cream for dry skin

Dry skin tends to benefit more from BB Creams, rather than CCs, because they offer a dewy glow and have a more balanced proportion of skin care ingredients and pigmentation. If what you need is a product that works well both alone and under makeup, offers sheer coverage and sun protection, the right product for you might be Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm SPF 20. Its dewy finish leaves skin looking youthful and glowy.

Diorskin Nude BB Creme is also an option for those of you with dry skin, as it contains plenty of skin conditioners and moisturizers (Glycerin, Mallow extract, Hibiscus Extract, Flaxseed extract) and also a lot of antioxidants (green tea leaf extract, rooibos leaf extract etc).

It acts as a moisturizer and a corrector, it smoothes and protects skin, while offering medium coverage with a dewy, glowing finish. I recommend it for dry and sensitive skin.

Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream SPF 15 contains hyaluronic acid and glycerin, moisturizing it ingredients, that even makes the product easier to blend over dry areas. Its light formula covers minor imperfections and brightens skin.

Top BB, CC & DD Creams for mature skin

L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift CC Cream is a multi-action cream that corrects color & tone, while reducing the appearance of age spots and dark spots. It has a broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF 20) and it refines and smooths skin texture, while having a brightening effect.

Sephora Collection Skin Perfect CC Cream Sunscreen SPF 20 promises color correction, skincare benefits and coverage. Its formula hydrates skin and minimizes the appearance of pores, evens skin tone and camouflages fine lines. This CC Cream is lightweight and provides a smooth, flawless finish, while at the same time providing anti-aging benefits for the skin.

Julep DD Cream is a brand-new skincare product that recommends itself as an improved version of CC Creams. Its formula offers a buildable coverage that hides blemishes, imperfections and dark spots, while leaving a fresh, radiant sheen on the face. This breakthrough all-in-one product is available online until its release date in stores.

Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream is an oil-free product with skin care benefits and anti-aging properties. It provides an even tone, conceals pores and minimizes the appearance of imperfect, uneven skin. It’s formula softens dry patches as good as – or even better than – day cream and contains two antioxidants – thiotaurine, an exclusive ingredient, inhibits the oxidization of sebum which causes oxidative damage to skin as rose apple leaf extract prevents DNA damage caused by UV rays.

3Lab Perfect BB Cream features bio-engineered growth hormone and apple stem cell technology, which work together to lift and tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  It leaves face feeling moisturized and smooth, it applyes easily and it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

    • What you should try, Nikhitha, is Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, an oil control product, that doesn’t leave a chalky finish and has mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage.

Also, from the CC Creams range, the Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector caters to your tan complexion and has great coverage.

Read more on the PTR CC Cream in my review: http://www.tinytouchups.com/peter-thomas-roth-cc-cream-review-10361/

      Hope these help!

  3. Priya

I have dark skin tone, not too dark though and tanned in the chin area, have oily skin too.. please suggest me an affordable BB or CC cream for light coverage. Thanks

    • Hi Priya,
L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream as well as Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector SPF 30 should be perfect for your, as they come in darker shades and are suitable for oily skin.

If light coverage is what you’re looking for, then you should definitely try these two! :)

  4. Jenny

Thanks for the review. Its very helpful. Im trying to find a good cc cream on a budget. I have fair to light sometimes oily, acne prone skin with acne scarring and spots. What would you recommend on the lower price range for cc creams that would work well for that? Ive looked into Olay and Aveeno CC creams as well as tonymoly and etude house, but wasnt sure if they would do the trick. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

    • Hi Jenny,

If you have oily, acne prone skin and you are looking for a product that has medium coverage and can hide spots or scarring, then Aveeno might be the best of the ones you mentioned.

The new L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream ($13) is another product that you might like and it’s even cheaper than Olay and Aveeno.

If these don’t work for you, perhaps you need to try some CC Creams that are a bit pricier, but will surely cater to all your needs in terms of coverage, shade and finish.

      I recommend you look into:
Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream ($ 28)
Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream ($35)
Shashbox Camera Ready CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($42)
Dr. Jart+ CC Essence Balm ($42)

Hope these helps! Let me know how you find them :)

  5. Thiana

I have oily and acne prone skin. I used the L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream but it felt cakey, and became blotchy after a few hours. Also, I’m studying in Ireland, so my skin is extremely white and I can’t find something that matches my skin tone. Can you help please?

    • Hi Thiana,

I’m pretty sure you are going to love Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25, one of the most compatible tone to pale skin, originaly from Korea, where fair skin is not uncommon. Its has a water-based formula, that will make it ideal for your oily skin.

      Hope this helps!

  6. Khin Pan Pan Thaw

I have fair complexion & my skin type is combination skin.I have a little spot on my face. Now,I’m using BB Cream.I bought from the Faceshop.AQUA TINTED BB Cream.I chose Light Beige. But now I think I’m not suitable with that light beige.Could u give me some advice which colour & which type of BB Cream I should buy next time?

    • Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 and Chanel CC Cream are the most compatible tone to pale skin, probably because of the fact that they come from Korea, where fair skin is not uncommon.

They are great for combination skin, as their formula evens out imperfections and controls excess shine. Both come in one shade, ideal for fair skin, so try them out and let me know which one you like best.

      Hope this helps!

    • Melissa

Try Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in #13 Milky Beige–it’s one of the lightest bb creams on the market. (Missha Signature Real Complete BB Cream also comes in the same shade #13, and is more sheer.) Good luck!

  7. Meagan

    Hi Luiza,

Thank you so much for such an extensive review! As someone who is just jumping into the BB/CC creams (after being a faithful tinted moisturizer fan for YEARS) I have to admit, the options can be overwhelming! I am a 31 y/o that has sensitive, dry skin & am looking for coverage on the lighter side, while still wanting to reap the benefits of using a CC…I seem to find myself between a few of your recommendations! Any advice/suggestions?

    Thanks again!

    • Hi Meagan,

Because you have dry and sensitive skin, there are two great options for you – Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream AND Diorskin Nude BB Creme. Try them out and let me know which one you like best :)

  8. Cindy

Hi, I have acne prone skin and red spots/ hyperpigmentation. What is the best CC cream would you recommend that won’t break me out but gives me good coverage of the marks and lasts all day without feeling oily? Also, I have a yellow undertone and I don’t know my exact shade.

    • Hi Cindy,

I’ve gathered quite a few products that you might find useful:

Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream promises to even out skin tone in four weeks.

Jane Iredale BB Cream is excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin and is available in six shades.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, a fragrance free, oil control product, that doesn’t leave a chalky finish and has mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage. You should try this first and let me know how it suits you undertone wise.

Unfortunately, I can’t help you find an exact shade so you will have to ask someone from the beauty store. Hope this helps!

      • Cindy

ok thank you. After applying the BB cream do I have to apply any finishing powder or anything to set it and prevent oiliness? If so, what products do you recommend?

        • Technically, if you choose a product formulated for acne prone skin, it should prevent excess oil. There isn’t a rule against using a finishing powder to set a BB Cream and you are more then welcomed to try it and see if it’s better for you.

I recommend a loose powder of your choice. I use MakeUpForEver HD Powder.

However the whole point of using a BB is to replace the sometimes heavy look of foundation & powder with a much lighter, dewy finish.

If the BB/CC Cream finish isn’t doing much for you or your skin condition/type, why don’t you just stick to a proper foundation, that gives you more coverage, hides acne spots, red spots and doesn’t leave you oily?

  9. Petra

This has been a helpful post, but I’d like a professional opinion. I am really pale and can’t seem to find a matching powder nor a BB/CC cream. I am now combining Maybelline Affinitone Opal rose and a CC cream from Max Factor and that works out but I’d really like something I don’t have to combine. I also can’t find the right undertone. Affinitone has yellow and the CC cream pink undertone so it fits only in a combination of the two. Is it possible not to have an undertone ? Please help, I’m in real crisis here..

    • Hi Petra,

I know it can be tricky to find a foundation/ bb|cc cream that’s suitable for fair skin, that’s why testing the products is the best advice I can give you. If your skin ton is not too yellow and not too pink, this means you have a neutral undertone.

Most professional makeup brands – MAC, MakeUpForEver – carry foudations in all three undertones, so try them out. Also, if you are so fair skinned that all pressed powders you tried are too dark on you, I advise you to try a translucent loose powder. You’ll love it!

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 or Chanel CC Cream should work out for you, but it depends on how much you want to invest in the products.

  10. Jing

Hi. I have dry and quite sensitive skin. What do you think is the best BB Cream to use? Since I am living in a tropical country and dust and heat of the sun really rock my face.

    • Hi Jing,

If what you need is a product that works well both alone and under makeup, offers sheer coverage and sun protection, you can try Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream SPF 15 OR Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm SPF 20.

Diorskin Nude BB Creme is also an option, as it contains plenty of skin conditioners and moisturizers (Glycerin, Mallow extract, Hibiscus Extract, Flaxseed extract) and also a lot of antioxidants (green tea leaf extract, rooibos leaf extract etc).

  11. Kaye

    Hi Luiza,

Is Korean brand Etude House’s Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit worth a try? It’s one of the most popular brands here in the Philippines and I’m planning on buying one. I have tried Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Cream but because I have acne prone skin, I discontinued using it because it’s not non-comedogenic. Based on your review, I might also consider the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream. I have dark pimple marks on both of my cheeks and also on the forehead, what can you recommend to cover it up? Thanks.

    • Hi Kaye,

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Etude House’s BB, but unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to test it for myself. You should purchase a sample and give it a try, then share your opinion :)

Indeed, Maybelline is not a good fit if you have acne prone skin and need a product that has enough coverage to hide marks. Smashbox is a great product, as are Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream or Jane Iredale BB Cream – non-comedogenic products, excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin, buildable coverage.

Try them out and let me know which one you like best :)

  12. amrapali

u did’t reviews any of maybeline BB creams.

    • Sure I did: “Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector SPF 30, a sheer formula with a smooth texture that blends easily. Maybelline’s BB for dark skin is a warm, caramel tint, that helps counteract gray or sallow tones common for darker complexions.”

      • remy

im med/tan skinned acne prone and trying to cover dark spots..so i dont want something too sheer but i want a natural look bc i dont wear makeup..im not sure where to start… what would you suggest?

  13. Penny Le

    Hi Luiza,

I love this review. But if possible, I would love to have some personal opinions from you. I have uneven skin tone on my face, also I kinda fair but my face is a lot darker than my neck and my body. I have oily skin at T-zone but dry skin in other area, a combination skin I guess. So can you recommend some products to me? Thank you very much.

    • Penny Le

Sorry but I also have to add this, I also have a lot of pigmentation on my cheeks +___+.

      • Hi Penny Le,

You have combination skin with pigmentation marks on your cheeks and fair skin, and you need to find a product that gives you a matte finish, evens out your skin tone and matches the skin on your neck and body.

I don’t get to say this often, because in most cases, the skin on a face is generally lighter than the rest of the body, but in your situation, trying to lighten your face a bit should help balance the whole look. You should try Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, a product that improves skin moisture in four weeks, has skin tone correcting ingredients (malic acid, AHA, caffeine) and mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage.

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream is another option that caters to your skin, as it contains antioxidants, covers imperfections and has a brightening effect on the skin. The mineral pigments will cover fine lines and minor blemishes, but they’re not enough for serious discoloration.

Wei East Wei To Go Beauty Ideal Skin covers brown spots, smooths out wrinkles and evens out skin tone. The best part is that you get a customizable coverage.

Try these out and let me know which one you liked best :)

I have been looking for a BB or CC cream. I have the Rachel K…but the color is off still. I am oily/acne prone, with red spots. I was thinking about Dr. Jart Black label BB, or Dr. Brandt matte BB. What do you think? I need something asap :) Thank you!!

    • Hi Meli,

Dr. Brandt matte BB worked for me coverage and color wise and I am pretty fair. Haven’t tried the Black label yet, so please share your opinion after you give it a go. I strongly advise you to try the samples first, wear them a couple of days and then decide. That way, the feeling that the color is slightly off won’t torment you.. :)

  15. Megan

I have fair ivory to a light medium beige skin tone, moderate acne with a lot of marks and scars, combo skin type a well, dry in some places and oily in others, i wasn’t something that will just cover it all without having to use foundations and concealers and end up wearing 5 layers ofmake up to look natural and smooth. If i have to use a little concealer that’s ok but i don’t want something that is just gonna be another layer on my mask lol. And I’m allergic to mineral oil. What would you recommend? I was leading towards the aveeno one or the Loreal magic one. Just wanted your opinion. Thanks!

    • Hi Megan,

You seem to know your skin pretty well and I think it’s pointless to tell you that the coverage you get from using a foundation isn’t comparable to that of a BB or even a CC Cream.

However, I get the fact that sometimes you might need to feel your skin a little lighter and loose that extra layer of makeup so if I had to choose, I would go for the Aveeno BB Cream.

      Best of luck,
      L.

  16. Candice

    Hi Luiza,
Thank ou for your tske on bb and cc creams.i live in the Caribbean where the weather is hot.I have oily skin and I sometimes get blackheads.I am looking for a bb or cc cream to start.Any suggestions?Thank You.

    • Hi Candice,

From what I understand, BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream should work wonders for you. It’s an antioxidant, anti-aging and nourishing BB cream with nutrition from deep ocean water and flower extracts. It absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

Try it and let me know what you think!
      Best of luck :)

  17. Jenny

    Hi Luiza,

What a wonderful review! I have been loving BB Creams since they came out and I have tried a fair few and liked most of them. However, about 6 months ago I discontinued the pill (which also kept my skin clear) and I now find myself with extremely oily skin, with mild acne scars, some redness and spots. Overall my skin tone is still quite even which makes me think that I could get away with a BB or CC cream. I’ve tried many different BB creams but my skin becomes so oily that the cream almost melts off after an hour or two (this happened with the Dr Jart Water Fuse, the Shiseido BB, Garnier oil free and La Roche Posay BB). I also have quite fair skin which makes finding a suitable BB/CC cream harder. The BB that seems to work best at the moment is one from Erborian, with Ginseng. I still have to powder quite heavily (Make up forever HD loose powder) for it to stay at least half of the day without blotting though. Do you maybe have any suggestions of what I could try? I haven’t tried any CC cream yet, as there are so many that I’m not sure which one to try…I’d appreciate any suggestions in this BB/CC jungle out there :)

    • Hi Jenny,

If what you’re dealing with are local imperfections and not pigmentation issues on larger areas, than you might just get away with using only concealer and a BB/CC Cream.

From what I gathered, you only used moisturizing products that I personally recommend for dry skin, so don’t give up on BBs and CCs and try something targeted towards oily, acne prone skin.

For uneven complexions, I recommend the following BBs: Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream, a product that covers dark spots with its medium coverage formula and evens out skin tone. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream is also an oil control product, that has skin tone correcting ingredients and mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage. BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

From the CC range, you should try Rachel K CC Cream a product that offers oil control, moisture, color control, brightening and skin lightening ingredients or Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector, a product that caters to those with tan or yellow undertone and has great coverage, evens out skin tone, while minimizing the appearance of imperfections. Rachel K is better if your have fair skin, while PTR will only work if your skin is medium or dark.

Get some samples and let me know which one works best in your case, so I know to recommend them further on, to other people in need of advice :D

      Thanks,
      L.

      • Jenny

        Hi Luiza,

Thank you so much for your detailed recommendations! I have a lot to test :) I got a sample for the Vichy BB yesterday and will work my way through your list. I will keep you posted what works. Thanks again! :)

  18. Sonia

Hi!! This was so informative!! My t-zone and cheeks get very oily. I am about to turn 31, I am a lighter skinned African American woman, prone to dark spots on chin and neck (hormonal) and occasional acne outbreaks with my period. What bb or cc cream would be best for me? I don’t wear foundation, but I would like to get nice coverage, with a natural/dewey kind of glow. HELP!! I would like to keep the price down, but would like all of your suggestions please!! A lady will make a way if it can get me what I NEED! Thank you so much!

    • Hi Sonia,

Thanks for visiting, I’m glad you like my take on BB/CC Creams. For your complexion, I recommend Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream, a product that covers dark spots with its medium coverage formula and evens out skin tone. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream is also an oil control product, that has skin tone correcting ingredients and mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage.

If you want to splurge, than definitely try the Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector, a product that caters to those with tan or yellow undertone and has great coverage, evens out skin tone, while minimizing the appearance of imperfections.

Another great choice is Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream, an oil free product, packed with antioxidants, that tempers shine. This gives your skin a healthy look, evens tone and has a creamy texture. Instead of mattifying, which can leave the skin looking dull and aged, this sheer formula gives the skin a radiant glow.

Try them out and let me know which one you like best! :)

  19. Amanda

This was a great article! Exactly what I was looking for. Did you review DD creams too? I’ve never even heard of those. I have combination skin I guess. I have a very oily T zone. My forehead is always so shiny and my makeup will just come right off its so oily. I have some uneven tone also and my skin is sensitive to toners and chemicals and I still get some zits around my chin and jaw and hair line. Could you recommend the correct cream for me?

    • Thanks for saying that, Amanda! I’m happy I could help. I had chance to review Julep DD Cream, a product which I see fit for mature or dry skin with minor imperfections, as it provides buildable coverage and hides blemishes, imperfections and dark spots, while leaving a fresh, radiant sheen on the face.

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that correct redness. Lorac’s CC cream is oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and it leaves a natural looking, flawless and semi matte finish.

Try them out and let me know which one is your favorite! :)

  20. Anna

    Hi Luiza!!
I want to try BB or CC cream for the first time.I was going through your post and its indeed is very helpful to know the difference between the CC & BB cream.
I have an oily skin & its prone to acne…so after reading through your post I think I should try a CC cream.
I also have dark spots & pigmentation on the cheeks and over the lips & chin area…
Please tell me which BB or CC cream will be a good pick for me that has a good coverage. I have a wheatich complexion.
Also please tell me what should I use after applying the cream…
    I would appreciate your reply.

    Thanks

    • Hi, Anna!

Happy you found this useful and glad to help you out!

BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream should be perfect for you as it provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells. That way, it should help with your pigmentation problems, not just hide them.

An even better option coverage wise would be Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection. This evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

      Both are available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

If you feel the need to further mattify your complexion after you applied the BB/CC Cream, you can use powder. I always do, as I prefer a more matte look. Soon you’ll be able to find a review on the best CC Powders on the market, so make sure you visit again! :)

  21. nesha

    hi Luiza
I had a very troubled face as prone to acne and dark spots and uneven skin tone. I want to know what do you think bb cream is suitable fo me

    • Hi Nesha

IMO, BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream should be perfect for you as it provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

An even better option coverge wise would be Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection. This evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

I also recommend Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream, a product that not only covers dark spots with its medium coverage formula, but also promises to even out skin tone in four weeks.

All these products are available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Hope these work for you! Let me know! :)

  22. Saina

Hi Luiza, your review was really helpful and I’m looking into some of the products you’ve suggested, to other commentators with similar skin to mine. I was just wondering though what you thought I should try specifically. I have quite oily skin with a few acne scars and a few spots every now and then. I usually just use a concealer and a powder foundation, but I want to try something that will let my skin breath more and hopefully heal better. And I’m also moving to Florida, and the climate there is extremely hot and humid so I want something that will be able to withstand that. What would you suggest? Thank you in advance!

    • Hi Saina,

Florida is indeed pretty hot, so if you have oily skin as well, you might want to go for the best options it terms of coverage, matte finish & UV protection. I couldn’t agree more with your routine for camouflaging occasional spots. Kudos!

Here’s a list of products for your skin type, starting with my personal favorite:

Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection: good coverage & UV protection

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream: is oil free and provides buildable coverage

BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream: is water based and provides good coverage

These are all available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Let me know which one you choose and how it holds up in Florida! :)

  23. Erica

    Hey Luiza!
I’m 13 and am just starting out to look for a bb cream that works for my skin type. I have a oily t zone, dry skin and have acne. I would really like to look well good with a cream that matches my skin tone. I’m a blonde so my skin tone is fair, friends say i would be a light. Hopefully u can help, your response would be greatly appreciated ! Thank u :D

    • Hi Erica,

Since your skin type is so complex, you’ll need to work your angle differently, by adapting a skin care regime that fits the needs of your skin. That means that before you choose a BB/CC Cream, you’ll have to properly moisturize the dry patches of your face (I imagine cheek areas) and to regularize your sebum production, thus keeping acne under control.

You do that by choosing the right makeup remover, cleansing lotion and face cream. More on that here: http://www.tinytouchups.com/skin-care-routine-teens-9989/

If you take care of your skin properly, than you’ll most probably end up needing to further prevent excess oil on your T zone and cover up acne spots, in which case I suggest you go through the products listed here -> http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5 and choose one according to your budget :)

Hope you are happy with my response :D
      Take care!

  24. Alina

    Great post, Luiza! :)
I have medium-brown skin with a warm undertone and I have oily and acne-prone, senstive skin with scars from breakouts. Please suggest me some BB or CC creams which will control oil, hide blemishes effectively, is safe to use everyday without breaking out and is long-lasting and can handle humidity and heat as I live in India.
I want fresh and clear looking skin. Thanks in advance!

    • Thanks, Alina!
Because you have such specific needs, I recommend one specific product, that will cater to all of them effectively. I’m talking about the Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector and you’ll be able to purchase it easily from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a4

Hope you like this product as much as I did and you visit Tiny Touch ups soon :)

  25. Lulu

    Hi Luiza,

Great Article! I’ve learned so much new things about BB and CC creams (and also DD creams, which I never even knew existed!) My skin colour would be considered “African-american”, and my skin is oily in the T-Zone, and prone to breakouts all over – I’m assuming that some of those breakouts might be puberty-related, but they’re there nonetheless. I was wondering if you could suggest a BB or CC cream that would fit my skin needs? Thank you!

    • Hi Lulu,

I’m happy to help you and give you some pointers. IMO, you should try and see how you find products like Jane Iredale BB Cream, L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream or Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35, if you don’t have to stick to a budget. You can purchase them from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a2

      Hope you visit soon! :)
p.s: Lulu’s also my nickname in some circles :D

  26. Sarah chin

Hi Luiza, I’m a chinese with dry and acne prone skin. in addition I have a fair complexion with makes it harder for me to have full coverage on my post acne marks. Currently i’m using chanel’s cc cream which i find it quite dry for my skin but with full coverage. I have explored clinique’s cc cream but the coverage is not that great. I am thinking of switching to smashbox CC but i am not too sure whether it will dry out my skin. Also, Since i have acne prone skin i need to find a product which is non acnegenic/non comedogenic/ oil free. Please kindly advise. Thank you.

    • Hey Sarah,
Indeed, my first suggestion would have been Chanel’s CC cream, but since you find it to be too drying, my first thought would be to recommend Julep DD Cream, a brand-new skincare product that recommends itself as an improved version of CC Creams.

Its formula offers a buildable coverage that hides blemishes, imperfections and dark spots, while leaving a fresh, radiant sheen on the face. This breakthrough product is available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9 until its release date in stores.

Here’s why: If you have dry patches and are also dealing with acne spots on your T zone, you should choose all products – skin care & makeup – to satisfy both skin conditions.

IMO, the simplest way to hydrate you dry skin properly and also obtain localized full coverage is to choose a BB/CC Cream for dry skin and a concealer to hide your acne.

That way, you know what you’re getting and don’t have to test so many products, as someone with such a complex skin type like yours will end up doing.

      Think about it! :)

  27. Hello Luiza.
I have medium-brown yellow undertones skin colour. I have combination skin and a few dark marks on my skin left from spots. I have tried so many different products but cannot find the right one so was hoping that you would suggest for me which would be for my skin type and long lasting so to cover the marks. Being of afro-caribbean descent I really am finding it so difficult to find something suitable. Would feel more confident if my skin was clear and even toned.

    Kind regards.

    • Hi Diane,

You can’t imagine how happy I am to finally recommend someone some of the best BB Creams on the market. Because you want coverage and have a darker skin tone, you are one of the few who can actually benefit from these products. You should most definitely try either Dior Hydra Life BB Creme SPF 30 PA+++ or Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35, both available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a2

Hope you love them like I do! :D

  28. Uyen Tran

Hì! I have a combination skin,a little dark spot, dark circle.Im looking for a good Bb or CC which will control oily, cover my confection but still natural and gently. Can you help me?Thanks so much!

    • Hello Uyen Tran,
Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is the answer to all your questions, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots. If you have light skin, than you can also try Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream, a product that provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that correct redness.
They are available for you here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Please let me know which one you like best and eventually choose :)
      Take care and visit soon!

  29. Makeup Lover

Really good review!! Thank you for that! It is so hard to gather all that info but you made it easier for me! :))

  30. Natasha

    Hi,

I stumbled upon your article because I’m very interested in trying a BB OR CC cream. Since Summer is here, I don’t want to wear heavy makeup. I have a dark complexion and sometimes acne prone, which BB and CC creams will work for me?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Hi Natasha,

I totally get why you would want to switch to BB/CC Creams especially during the summer, when your skin would benefit from all those antioxidants and vitamins. If you are acne prone or your skin just breaks out sometimes, your best bet is to choose something that has an oil free formula, is moisturizing and provides a suitable SPF.

I recommend you try Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream or Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream. Also, Jane Iredale BB Cream works well for those who are looking for a non-comedogenic product and is available in six shades. You can purchase either one from here -> http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

Let me know which one matches your skin tone best, as it would help other ladies in your condition :)

      Thanks,
      Take care :D

  31. Aj

Hi luiza, what an awesome article! You are the answer to my question :) I’m 32 yrs old asian combination pale skin I’m so confused what BB cream suites me,I was using MAC liquid foundation pro long wear then shifted to garnier BB cream but it seems doesnt suits me,I really need BB cream long lasting and oil control since I’m working for 12 hrs long and I want to omit my blush on too…please help me find which BB cream I need to have a glowing and pinkish skin. thanks ahead!

    • Hi AJ,
Chanel CC Cream is the perfect choice for your skin type, as it has a water based formula, it moisturizes with the help of hyaluronic acid, contains SPF 30 and PA++ and evens out imperfections.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 is one of the most compatible tone to pale skin and it has a water-based formula so it’s also a perfect choice for your combination skin. This is more of a budget choice and you can purchase either one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

Hope these will give you that dewy, pinkish tone that you love! :)

  32. Denise

Hello Luiza, I thank you for this very informative article! Because you are so knowledgeable and helpful to others, would you mind steering me toward a great product perfect for me? I am 56 years old and live in the Southeast. I have blond hair, blue eyes, fair normal to dry skin with some freckles and occasional rosacea. I would like to try a CC cream but would appreciate a recommendation of a DD cream as well. I am appreciative of your time and special, attention, thank you so much!! Take care, Denise

    • Hi Denise,
Thank you for your kind words! Julep DD Cream truly is a right fit for you, as its formula offers a buildable coverage that hides imperfections and dark spots, while leaving a fresh, radiant sheen on the face.

Also good for you would be Sephora Collection Skin Perfect CC Cream Sunscreen SPF 20, a product that offers color correction, skincare benefits and coverage. Its formula hydrates skin and minimizes the appearance of pores, evens skin tone and camouflages fine lines.

They are both available for purchase here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

Hope you give them a try! Take care!

  33. RS

    hi Luiza,

I have tried using Granier all in one BB cream and Ponds BB cream. i suspect that garnier has caused my skin to break out a bit. but i didnt like the chalky look of Ponds either. plz help me find a solution…thank you!

    • Hi RS,
You haven’t given me much information about your skin type or color, but from what I gather, you’re looking for a BB cream on budget. You can try L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift CC Cream, a multi-action cream that corrects color & tone, has a broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF 20) and refines and smooths skin texture, while having a brightening effect.

It’s quite affordable and it’s available for purchase here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

      Take care!

  34. Edwina L A Johnson

What a fantastic website! I’ve bookmarked it immediately! I have oily blemish prone skin, and being 38 yrs old need anti ageing help too. After reading your reviews I’ll be buying Smash Box bb cream tomorrow. Can’t wait to try it!

  35. dona

Hello. My face is extremely oily, mainly the T zone and have large pores. Which bb and cc cream do u prefer for my skin

  36. Francisca

Hi, I’m looking for a bb cream or cc cream ( I don’t know wich of this would fit best my skin) for my light skin tone, very sensitive and reactive skin and combination skin. I have also a little of roseasea and I’m in my 30′s. I would like something lightwheight, that helps me with minimizing my pores but also that gives me that dewy fresh and healthy good skin look.
I really hope you can recommend the best for my skin!!!
    Thanks so much!!

    • Hi Francisca,
If you suffer from rosacea, I recommend Dr. Jart+ Renewalist BB Beauty Balm, a cream with niacinamide, that can increase the skin’s production of ceramides and essential fatty acids, thus calming inflammation and sensitive skin.

Boscia BB Cream also reduces redness with jojoba leaf and willow herb extract, has a light formula that gives a youthful glow, evens out skin tone and is least likely to trigger brake outs.

You can purchase either one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a7

      Hope these help :)

  37. Callan

I have combination skin that can be sensitive and i’m very fair so it is very hard to find makeup whether its tinted moisturizer or bb cream. I refuse to use foundation but i need something that will cover up my blemishes. I found this article more helpful than others but I am still confused on what to buy.

    • Hi Callan,

You should definitely try Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25. it’s one of the most compatible tone to pale skin, it counteracts blemishes and redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones. It leaves a dewy finish and soothes the skin thanks to its water-based formula.

If you are willing to spend extra on something that should be an even better fit for your combination skin, Chanel CC Cream is the solution. Its water formula moisturizes with the help of hyaluronic acid, contains SPF 30 and PA++ and evens out imperfections.

You can purchase either of them here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

Hope you find this advice useful and you like the products :)

  38. Nilly

Hi. Love this. It was so helpful. I was going to try the Chanel CC cream because I have really fair skin, but I was reading online and someone who has an oily T-zone (mostly the nose) tried it and everything else was fine, except the nose which became extremely oily after 6 hours. I need a replacement for foundation. My skin is perceived by others as “clear, and glowing” but I know my imperfections. My nose breaks out a lot because I once had an operation and I wasn’t able to clean it very well. So usually with the heat, the oil on my nose causes blackheads (which were never there before my operation)and well red breakouts. It’s clear right now but it breaks out unpredictably. Also my skin is very sensitive. I tried on Garnier BB cream before I read this article and it not only would give my face a darker tone but it made the area of my sideburns break out. It’s been 4 weeks and there are still red spots left.
So I would like you to personally advise a BB OR CC cream for my skin, please. Oily T-zone (mostly the nose), sensitive skin, fair and pale, occasional breakouts due to heat and oil sensitivity (usually on nose and the side of nose cheek area). I’ll be waiting for a response! Thank you so much :)

Also if you have some natural remedy + daily make up for my oily nose, I would be grateful.

    • Nilly

Oh and I’m almost 20 years old. If that helps

    • Hi Nilly,

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that corrects redness. It’s oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and is should be perfect for you.

Also, Rachel K CC Cream also offers oil control, moisture, color control. Its formula contains white tea, vitamin C and E.

You can purchase one of these form here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Since you asked, I suggest you keep under control the excess oil on your T zone by lightly powdering the area :)

  39. Nilly

And I’m very busy with college almost more than 8 hours everyday so I need to completely omit any make up/foundation. If you could suggest the right BB cream, it would be the answer to all my problems!

  40. Abbie

Hi I have oily skin and acne I have a medium skin tone I need something that will look natural but also cover all my blemishes and that will stay on through the day. I have had problems with my face not being the some color as the rest of me. I am going into 8th grade and will be really busyso my make up has to be indestructible what are your suggestions

    • Hi Abbie,

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, a fragrance free, oil control product, that doesn’t leave a chalky finish and actualy claims it improves skin moisture in four weeks. It has skin tone correcting ingredients (malic acid, AHA, caffeine) and mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage.

Also, Jane Iredale BB Cream works well for those of you who are looking for a non-comedogenic product, excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin. It is available in six shades and had SPF 25.

You can purchase them from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

      Hope this helps! :)

    • Mariela

You’re in 8th grade? Lay off the makeup. Keep it simple.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector SPF 30
‘Garnier Skin Renew Skin Miracle Perfector BB Cream

These will work with your skin tone and will provide you with much needed SPF. They are available for online purchase here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a4

      Take care! :)

  42. Marie

    Hi Luisa,

I appreciate this post very much.

I was just curious about what you might suggest for me personally. I am in my early 20′s and have normal to oily skin. Acne is not so much my problem but the scars for previous acne is. Please, if you could suggest what I could use to cover up scarring. Thank you in advance.

    • Hi Marie,

Dior Hydra Life BB Creme SPF 30 PA+++ is a good choice if you’re looking for a product that provides full coverage. It’s one of the most pigmented of any I’ve sampled, but sadly, not the most suitable for pale skin, as it has an orange undertone. However, medium skin tones seeking to add warmth to their complexions will be most pleased with this product, so if you fall in this category, you can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a2

      Hope you like it! :)

  43. Mojgan Behnamrad

Hi,I am 53 y/o and I have an acne prone and oily T zone skin for me the point is what kind and brand is really good for me and after that which BB or CC cream is good for me Thx

    • Hi Mojgan,

I recommend BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream, an anti-oxidant, anti-aging and nourishing BB cream with nutrition from deep ocean water and flower extracts. It absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is another great option, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that corrects redness. It leaves a natural looking, flawless and semi matte finish, while at the same time nourishing your skin with moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants like vitamins A, C & E, aloe, chamomile, calendula, white peony, green and white tea.

You can find these here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

  44. Ariel

    Hi!

    Thank you so much!
Have you heard of hydroxatone anti-acne cc cream? I have acne, and are looking for a cream that (lightly) covers it, but doesn’t give me more of the acne. i’d be greatful for more of you’re tips:) i am really comfused in this jungle of creams;)

  45. Spurthi

    Hi
I am an indian with medium skin tone with dry skin mostly apart from the t zone which turns oily after a day at work so not sure if this is called combination or just dry.
Also I don’t have much acne, I get them ones in a blue moon but it leaves the mark forever so have few marks on face which are slightly visible.
I have tried Garnier BB cream but I don’t like it much ……
I want something which can even my tone and stay longer for the whole day also I apply some powder after bb and don’t do anymore makeup. So I want something with just one cream so that i don’t have to spend a lot of time getting ready.i am 26 if that matters……

    • Hi Spurthi,

A top choice for you is Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector, a product that caters to those with yellow undertone and has great coverage.

This product evens out skin tone and supports collagen, minimizing the appearance of imperfections. Since you have combination skin, you have to look into products that aren’t too drying on the patches on your face that heal in ages, yet will keep under control your oily T zone. This will work wonders!

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a4

  46. Iza

Hi, I’m glad I stumbled upon this website. I have always wanted to wear makeup but everytime I wore foundation I hated the feeling. So I wanted to try these creams. I’m an medium olive tone, with dry and sensitive skin. I want something that won’t stick to my skin and make me feel chalky. But that matches enough to my skin to make it look natural. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    • Hi Iza,

Boscia BB Cream reduces redness with jojoba leaf and willow herb extract, has a light formula that gives a youthful glow, evens out skin tone and is least likely to trigger breack outs.

Bioderma Sensibio Anti-Redness BB Cream is another great product for sensitive skin. It has a great texture and it provides medium coverage and a broad spectrum sun protection. More information on this product is available in my complete Bioderma BB Cream review.

You can purchase either one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a7

Hope your skin will feel happy!

  47. Mariela

Smashbox BB ruined my face. My cheeks are filled with bumpy acne. I’m starting to think BB creams in general are not a good idea

    • Hi Mariela,

I can’t image what must have gone wrong, since Smashbox is targeted towards those with sensitive skin…

      • Mariela

At Sephora I was told Smashbox is “photoshoot” makeup so it’s thicker and longer lasting but can really clog pores after extended wear. I love the BB cream but i really broke out badly in areas of my face that i have never broken out before. I’ve looked up other articles and I do not seem to be the only one with this problem with this bb cream. I think it also can be the type of sunscreen used in this particular brand.

  48. Ruba

Hi I only like yellow undertone product that give a balance to my pink tone face, Which BB or CC cream that have yellow undertone? as I tried a lot with no success.

  49. stafi

i have oily to combination acne prone dull skin age 35+ wrinkles around eyes. previous black and brown scars of acne remain which cc cream do you suggest for my wheatish skin. suggest something with spf

    • Hi Stafi,

Julep DD Cream offers buildable coverage that hides blemishes, imperfections and dark spots, while leaving a fresh, radiant sheen on the face.

Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream is another great choice for your. This oil-free product has skin care benefits and anti-aging properties. It provides an even tone, conceals pores and minimizes the appearance of imperfect, uneven skin. It’s formula softens dry patches and contains two antioxidants – thiotaurine, an exclusive ingredient, that inhibits the oxidization of sebum which causes oxidative damage to skin as rose apple leaf extract prevents DNA damage caused by UV rays.

You can find either one of these here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

Let me know which one you like best! :)

  50. Amna

    Hi Luiza,

I am looking for your advice. I am 20 years old, have dark complexion with dark chin ( uneven tone skin). I am currently living in Karachi where the humidity rate is high. I have tested my skin its dry basically. But an hour after my skin get greasy and it looks so bad in university time cause dark greasy skin puts bad impression. As I cannot wash my face even after 4 to 6 hours in university because we don’t have any time to go to girls common room.
So, can you recommend my some products for Even out my skin tone, getting better complexion and to escape from gresyness.
    Thanks.

    • Hi Amna,

First off, if your skin were dry, your skin wouldn’t look greasy, so most probably, you have combination skin. To even out your skin, I would suggest using Dior Hydra Life BB Creme SPF 30 PA+++ if you’re looking for a product that provides full coverage. It’s one of the most pigmented of any I’ve sampled and it adds warmth to medium and dark complexions.

You can also try Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 that comes in a variety of shades suited for fair, medium and dark skin. It provides a matte finish, and the texture is just right.

You can find them both here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a2

  51. tayyaba

    Hi Luiza,
I am 18 year old . My skin is oily .i have acne problem and when my acne is reduced my blot remain even for month.when i go outside my skin become greasy and dull.my skin tone color is light brown

    • Hi Tayyaba,

Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin. I’m sure you’ll like this one :)

Also, Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments. It leaves a natural looking, flawless and semi matte finish, while at the same time nourishing your skin with vitamins A, C & E, aloe, chamomile, calendula, white peony, green and white tea.

You can find either one here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Let me know which one you love most :)

  52. zareen

    Hi Luiza,
Thnks for helping us.Help me I have acne marks, open pores and oily skin but when I wash my face or use any product its look like dull dry.I use many kind of founadations and creams but nothing work for me.I have fair color.Plzzzzzzz help me.

    • Hi Zareen,

In my opinion, the skin care products you are using might dry your combination/oily skin too much, hence the dull, dry look. Switch up your skin regime and you will surely get better results!

  53. Tiffany Carter

    Hi luiza!
I’m 15 years old and this is my first time buying a cc cream or bb cream and I really need your help! Since I’m a beginner I wanted light coverage only but I don’t know which bb/cc cream would work best for my oily skin, and uneven skin tone. I have acne mainly on my forehead and i have brown skin but also a yellow under tone because I’m Asian! Please help me out! Thank you!

    • Hi Tiffany,

Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream has SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or your oily skin. I believe it to be a perfect choice for you, as it should be a good match if you have a yellow undertone.

Try it out and let me know if you like it! :)

  54. Cathleen

    Hi Luiza,
I am so glad you did a review on this. I hope you can recommend a cc cream for me. I have combination, hyperpigmentation, and acne prone skin. I am Asian and in my 40s who do not used much foundation. I would love to use cc cream that would offer anti aging benefit. Thank you so much for your time.

    • Hi Cathleen,

Although you asked me to help you find a suitable CC Cream, I think you should definitely try Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream, an oil free product, packed with antioxidants (vitamins C, E, EGT, Eukarion) that tempers shine and moisturizes with hyaluronic acid.

It gives your skin a healthy look, evens tone and has a creamy texture. Instead of mattifying, which can leave the skin looking dull and aged, this sheer formula gives the skin a radiant glow.

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

If you are set on a CC Cream, the new Sephora Collection Skin Perfect CC Cream Sunscreen SPF 20 promises color correction, skincare benefits and coverage. Its formula hydrates skin and minimizes the appearance of pores, evens skin tone and camouflages fine lines. This CC Cream is lightweight and provides a smooth, flawless finish, while at the same time providing anti-aging benefits for the skin.

You can find it here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

Hope these work out for you! :)

  55. Kay

Thanks so much for your post, it was very helpful. I am mixed races but have a light to medium skin tone. It has a lot of red or pink in it because I am part native american. I do not get acne but my skin is soooo oily. I recently discovered BB creams and am interested in picking up a CC cream to as I am 25 and vering into the tone corecting stage. I need to even the color in my skin out while controling oil and shine. Should I use a primer first and if so what kind? Should I finish my total face makeyp or just a loose light powder? So many questions what products do you suggest? I am now using the garnier BB cream the new one for oily skin and it is pretty nice, a little shne seeps through. Oh, I have really large pores too so I want a bB cream to make them smaller which this one does but I feel is whitwashes my face a bit I got the light to medium shade and the dark shade is too much? thanks for any help

    • Hi Kay,

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 is one of the most compatible tone to your skin tone. Its corrective tone counteracts blemishes and redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones. It leaves a dewy finish and soothes the skin thanks to its water-based formula, so it’s perfect for oily skin.

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that corrects redness. Lorac’s CC cream is oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

It leaves a natural looking, flawless and semi matte finish, while at the same time nourishing your skin with moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants like vitamins A, C & E, aloe, chamomile, calendula, white peony, green and white tea.

This one is available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

You can use a primer if you feel your have to, but since these products are more suitable for you than Garnier will ever be, you probably won’t have to. However, here are some suggestions: http://www.tinytouchups.com/makeup-primers-10035/

If always use a light touch of loose powder to set my fondation/BB/CC Cream. I’ll be posting a really cool article on CC Powder tomorrow, so stay tuned :)

Let me know what BB/CC Cream you’ll choose! :)

  56. Carrie

    Hi Luiza,
Thanks for the informative article! I’ve been sifting through comments and recommendations and while I’m happy to have all of the info, I’m feeling overwhelmed and am not sure which BB/CC cream to try! I am 38 years old, live in hot, humid FL and have very dry, sensitive skin. My complexion is fair (I have blonde hair and green eyes. Think German/Norwegian!) I have tried the Garnier and also the Aveeno BB creams, but have not had any luck. I keep reading about Boscia and Dr. Jart and also saw that you mentioned a Chanel BB/CC cream. Am I on the right track? Any additional thoughts would be appreciated!
    Thank you so much!

    • Hi Carrie,

Since you have dry skin and live in a humid environment, your research paid off :)) Boscia and Dr. Jart are good options for sensitive skin and they both have a lot of nutrients. If you can find a suitable shade for you, it would be great!

Since you have pale skin, Chanel would fit you perfectly. It gives your skin that ebony, radiant glow that only your type of skin tone can pull off :P

You can purchase either one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

It all depends on how much you want to spend on your BB/CC Cream of choice. Let me know what you choose :)

  57. Ashley

    Hi luiza
I have very dry skin/ acne prone. What do yiu reccomend

    • Hi Ashley,

With your type of skin, it’s probably pretty hard to find a product that suits you perfectly. My advice is to try Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream, an oil free product, packed with antioxidants (vitamins C, E, EGT, Eukarion) that tempers shine and moisturizes with hyaluronic acid.

  58. Ellen Geerts

    Hi Luiza,

I’m 17 years old and have sensitive, acne prone skin. I tried several BB creams before, but most of them make my skin really shiny after a few hours… My skin is also white, so it’s difficult to find something that matches my skin tone. What would you recommend?

  59. Barb

I’m confused between all the BB and CC cream claims. I really need something that covers/treats acne (my face is not really oily – I’m in my 40′s and still have acne regardless of what I try). If it shrinks pores or makes them look smaller, even better! And, it has to be hypoallergenic. Makeup makes my eyes water and itch like crazy. Because of my acne should I go with a BB? But it seems like my age needs a CC? Which product and brand should I buy? Thanks!

    • Hi Barb,

Generally, BBs are better if you have dry, clear skin and CCs are good if you have oily or combination skin, if your prone to acne or if you desire more efficient anti-aging ingredients.

Therefore, you should totally choose a CC Cream. I recommend Sephora Collection Skin Perfect CC Cream Sunscreen SPF 20, a product that promises color correction, skincare benefits and coverage. Its formula hydrates skin and minimizes the appearance of pores, evens skin tone and camouflages fine lines. This CC Cream is lightweight and provides a smooth, flawless finish, while at the same time providing anti-aging benefits for the skin.

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

ps: if your eyes are sensitive to makeup, you can keep your eye makeup to a minimum. A good CC Cream blends nicely into the skin, so you can pretty much avoid the eye area if you like.

  60. Sophia nguyen

Hi. I’m a 13 year old and I’ve decided to use makeup now. Not too much coverage and too much makeup because I’m too young right now. Haha. But I want to slowly start off with a BB cream. I heard it has lighter coverage and since I’m starting off, I want light coverage. Since foundation might also be too heavy for skin. I want to wear a BB cream to school. I have Physical Education every single day so I want one that will last throughout the day andI also don’t want the BB cream to make me feel like it’s wearing off or is getting cakey or whatever. I have very dry and very sensitive skin. ( no joke ) I want a BB cream that involves both because I’ve read and heard so much about BB cream but there’s always only for dry skin and one for sensitive skin. Should I be picking sensitive skin over dry skin? Or dry skin over sensitive skin when I’m picking out a BB cream? Or is there any DRUGSTORE BB cream that will help both skin types. Please answer. Thank you! ( I want a drugstore BB cream by the way )

    • Hi Sophia,

You should try Bioderma Sensibio Anti-Redness BB Cream. It has a great texture and it provides medium coverage and a broad spectrum sun protection.

Also, Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream SPF 15 contains hyaluronic acid and glycerin, moisturizing it ingredients, that even makes the product easier to blend over dry areas. Its light formula covers minor imperfections and brightens skin.

      Good luck!

  61. Mandy

    Hello Luiza,
I found your article very informative and helpful. But I’m still trying to figure out what BB cream or CC cream would be best for me. I was thinking the L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream would work but I’m not sure. I have really oily skin on my T zone and cheeks, acne prone skin, fair complexion, and enlarged pores. Do you happen to have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  62. Jenny

    Hi Luiza,
Great article. I thought I would add my own plea for a recommendation! I am 37 and fair-ish with pink toned skin. I have a horribly oily nose with enlarged pores but the rest on my skin isn’t too bad (my forehead and chin are oily, but not as bad) and I don’t want to strip my skin of moisture. I am in NZ so we’re heading into summer. Any help appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Jenny

  63. hookd

Hi :) Thanks for your extensive review! I have fair, oily, and sensitive skin, I wonder what you think about Skin Food’s Peach Sake pore serum and Benefit cosmetic’s Porefessional? Are these considered BB creams? Or would you recommend a CC cream for my skin type? If so, what do you think about Maxfactor’s CC cream? Thanks a bunch! :)

    • Hi! A BB Cream that is good for oily skin, but also suited for sensitive skin, Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is the answer to all your questions, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

Another option for you would be Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream, as it provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that corrects redness.

You can find them both here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Honestly, I haven’t tried Maxfactor’s CC Cream, but I hear it’s pretty good!

Try a few samples and make your decision afterwards! :)

  64. Vicki

I have extremely oily skin suddenly and my usual foundation and base aren’t working. I’ve tested a number of matte foundations but don’t like them as they enhance lines I didn’t know I had! I like the No.7 BB cream for oily skin, do you rate this as a good one or are there better? I also work long hours so want something long lasting but looks natural (I don’t like looking too made up) and will work to keep spots at bay.

  65. Vicki

I am nearly 40 and have oily skin which is prone to acne/cysts but can dry out if a product is too harsh. I’ve been sampling different matte foundations but find they either don’t stay matte or they enhance lines I didn’t know I had! Today I tried No.7′s BB for oily skin which went on nicely and didn’t dry to enhance lines. It did become greasy after a few hours though. Can you recommend a BB cream that can control the oil/acne whilst keeping me looking youthful please?

    • Hi, Vicki,
I also tried No.7 BB Cream, but unfortunately, it looked too oily on me, so it couldn’t replace my foundation.

Since you have oily, but sensitive skin and you need a product that caters to dark spots, you should purchase a BB Cream with SPF.

Jane Iredale BB Cream works excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin and has SPF 25. It also leaves skin radiant and it moisturizes your skin. I love it!

There are only 6 shades available, so I hope you’ll find one suitable for you. I have to mix BB3 with BB5 to get a suitable shade for me…

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

      Hope you like it!

  66. hey Luiza, my skin is oily on t- zone nd dry in the other area of the face..i have brown spots nd blemishes nnear my eyes and upper lip nd chin area..which bb cream will be best for me? I am indian nd my skin tone is fair but have brown spots and a visible blemish on my cheek..

    • Hi Komaldeep,

It’s ok to have combination skin, it just means you need to use two types of products in order to satisfy your skin’s needs. Personally, I think you should first take care of your T zone and invest in a better product on this area, since you have to deal with more problems: pigmentation, blemishes, excess oil and use a lighter, more fluid formula in order to stop those dry patches from flaking.

With that in mind, i suggest BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream, an anti-oxidant, anti-aging and nourishing BB cream with nutrition from deep ocean water and flower extracts. It absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Another thing to bear in mind regarding your skin issues is the fact that those dark spots on your T zone are probably the aftermath of blemishes. To treat those, you should use a Skin lightening product. Here is my selection: http://www.tinytouchups.com/skin-lightening-creams-dark-spots-10722/

      Hope these help!

  67. Suzanne LaMore

I’m 43 with very sensitive skin that get’s shiny on the nose and t-zone area. I believe I have yellow undertones with a light-medium color. I really liked the Smashbox cc cream in medium light, but after about 1/2 hour after wearing it my face started stinging. Could you suggest a bb or cc cream that might work for me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    • Hi Suzanne,

Here’s my recommandation for you: Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream. It’s an oil-free product with skin care benefits and anti-aging properties.

How does that sound? You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

  68. Benafsha

I have an oily t-zone but I’ve been using acne medication so I have dry flaky skin on my forehead. so what BB cream would you recommend?

    • Since you are following an acne treatment, your dermatologist probably suggested a moisturizer that caters to this temporary dryness. I think the best solution for you is something that doesn’t clog pores and nurtures the skin.

Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream is an oil free product, packed with antioxidants (vitamins C, E, EGT, Eukarion) that tempers shine and moisturizes with hyaluronic acid. It gives your skin a healthy look, evens tone and has a creamy texture. Instead of mattifying, which can leave the skin looking dull and aged, this sheer formula gives the skin a radiant glow.

Jane Iredale BB Cream would also be perfect for you, as it works well for those of you who are looking for a non-comedogenic product, excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin. Great coverage, great finish and super moisturizing. I’m wearing this right now :))

You can purchase either one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

      Good luck with your treatment!

  69. Jen

Thank you so much for this information. I did my research before i bought my first bb cream about a year ago and picked one that is still on this list. I started wondering what new thing have been out that may work better for my skin. Though i think i will stick to my original pick i think i may pick up one of the newer cc creams that you have listed. Thanks again for this info. And ladies she gave you alot of great info in one place… read it and pick a few to try… but if you need someone to tell you what to do then find someone to do it in person. So much easier to see it on you first, try sephora, they should be able to give samples to try before you buy.

    • Thanks, Jen! If you need any advice on a CC Cream, don’t forget to mention your skin type! :)
I totally agree with testing a few products for a couple of days before you decide what to purchase.

  70. Patience

Please where can i get this cream,I want to try it.I am chocolate in colour, which of the cream will be suitable for me.I also have sunburn on my face due to cream reaction. Please advise me on which product to go for.

    • Hi!

I strongly advice you to wait for the skin reaction to heal properly before clogging your skin with makeup. Afterwards, you might want to try to use a BB/CC Cream for sensitive skin. My suggestion would be Boscia BB Cream. It reduces redness with jojoba leaf and willow herb extract, has a light formula that gives a youthful glow, evens out skin tone and is least likely to trigger breackouts.

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a7

      Hope this works for you!

  71. Medz

Where can i check this bb and cc creams in philippines?

  72. Pyuu

i loved loved LOVED your post! It’s really good to lnow so much about different types of BB/CC creams. Thanks a lot! :*
I have combination skin with little pimples & their scars here and there. My skin tone is fair, somewhat pale but not that pale. So whaich BB/CC would you’d recommend? Right now i am using Garnier BB cream & it do not breaks out on my skin. But coz i have to use it nearly everyday i cant take risk. So would you please recommend me a BB/CC cream that not only compliments my skin tone but also do NOT breaks out.
    Thanks! :)

    • Hi Pyuu,

Thanks a lot for your support! I find Garnier suitable for dry skin better, since it’s not at all mattifying. You should use a water-based formula, like Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25. This counteracts blemishes and redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones. It leaves a dewy finish and soothes the skin. I think you’ll like it!

You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

Just wanted to ask if you have any info on missha. Its from korea and for very light skin tones. From what i can tell it is very popular in eastern counties. Also all info points to it being very healthy for your skin. Though i have read there have been problems with online sources selling fake products.. i am fairly light though i do tend to tan easy. I have senstive dry combo skin that reddens when running or if i have a few drinks. I break out easily from most foundations so i dont normally wear make up all over my face. Thank you so much for your time.

hi! i’m 19 years old and i want to use bb cream.. is maybelline suited for me? i have dark skin tone and what type of bb cream should i use? is the maybeline bb cream stick radiance fits me? or could you suggest me bb cream?

  75. Ive used bb creams before like missha or skin79 and it causes me to break out. I hv oily t zone and i noticed i cant simply use any makeup as it causes me to break out. Im in korea now and thinking to give cc cream a try. i live in tropical country which is hot and humid,my face is usually oily by noon with my makeup. Any brand for recommendation?

  76. saloni

Hi, I am 33, fair skinned asian. I have fine lines on my forehead, particluary frown lines, large pores around my nose, cheeks, combination skin (oily on t zone) and very sensitive (tends to become red at the slightest touch). What bb cream should I go for inorder to hide the frown lines and large pores. Thanks!

    • Hi, Saloni,

I recommend you try Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream, an oil-free product with skin care benefits and anti-aging properties.

You can also try 3Lab Perfect BB Cream, which lifts and tightens the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It leaves face feeling moisturized and smooth, it applyes easily and it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

      Find either one here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

Hi Luiza. I must say u did a great job compiling this list. Replying everyone isn’t easy but u try ur best. My comment might have come in too late and this is because I jst found out about BB creams not long ago, so I was doing some research and came across your site. I’m 16 and a beginner in make-up. So I’m thinking abt starting off with a BB or CC Cream. I have oily , acne-prone and sensitive skin. There is some un-eveness in d complexion of my face due to acne/pimple spots here n dere but I’m fair. I’d like you to suggest a BB or CC Cream that ‘ll suit me d most.Your opinion will be really appreciated. Thank You

    • Hi, Stephanie,

I recommend you give Jane Iredale BB Cream a try and see if it works well for you. For me, it did wonders, as it is a non-comedogenic product, excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin. It is available in six shades and had SPF 25. It leaves a dewy finish and a radiant complexion that I think should be the case for your age. Try a tester first, as there are many mixed reviews on this and it’s definitely not a match for everyone.

You can find it here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

If you want something more mattifying, Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that corrects redness. This CC cream is oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

It leaves a natural looking, flawless and semi matte finish, while at the same time nourishing your skin with moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants like vitamins A, C & E, aloe, chamomile, calendula, white peony, green and white tea.

Also for your age and skin type,I recommend Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is the answer to all your questions, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin.

You can find these BB/CC Creams here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Since you just started using makeup, my advice is that you invest in quality and products that are suitable for your skin type. Most low budget BB/CC Creams are usually ok for those with dry skin…

  78. Chhivyun

Hi. I’m 20 Cambodian, Asia. This month I have been trouble of my skin. I have sensitive skin which I can’t stay under sunlight like before. My cheek will turn red. And I wonder if the cream can help me reduce it and later I can face the direct sunlight. Any advices? Is this because my skin loss the protective Barrie ?

    • Hi, Chhivyun,

There are over three dozen diseases, two dozen drugs, and several perfume and cosmetic components that can cause photosensitivity. The primary symptom is sunburn, which is rapid and can be severe enough to blister. The chemicals associated with phototoxicity are usually drugs: common antibiotics— quinolones, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines; diuretics (water pills); major tranquilizers; oral diabetes medication; and cancer medicines. There are also some dermatologic drugs, both topical and oral, that can sensitize skin.

First course of action should be the removal of the offending drug or chemical. Direct sunlight exposure should be limited. Some people must avoid sunlight altogether, while others can tolerate some direct sunlight with the aid of sunscreens.

That’s why it’s important to choose a product formulated for sensitive skin, that also has SPF. I recommend Dr. Jart+ Renewalist BB Beauty Balm, a cream with niacinamide, that can increase the skin’s production of ceramides and essential fatty acids, thus calming inflammation and sensitive skin. It also has SPF 25.

Others that should also work for you are:
Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35
      Boscia BB Cream
Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream
      Bioderma Sensibio Anti-Redness BB Cream

You can find them here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a8

  79. rakhee

hi luiza!!!! i have an oily, fair, and acne prone skin with some acne spots also. i really wanna try these bb or cc creams. It would be helpful to me if you can suggest me the right kind of bb or cc cream.

    • Hi Rakhee,

Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream has SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or skin type.

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that correct redness. Lorac’s CC cream is oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

You can find these here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Another great option for you would be the water-based formula of Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25. Its corrective tone counteracts blemishes and redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones. It leaves a dewy finish and soothes the skin.

This BB Cream is available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

Hope these work for you! :)

  80. Teresa

What is your opinion on Ole Henriksen CC creme

  81. Jessie

Hey Luiza, thank you so much for these helpful reviews! Just to be sure, I have a couple of questions:
    1. I’m new to makeup; right now, I only have a drugstore concealer. Should I begin with drugstore BB Creams or should I take a trip to Sephora and buy the high-end ones?
    2. I am an Asian thirteen-year old, and my skin is oily on my t-zone with some papules/whiteheads and dark spots from acne. Should I even start wearing BB Cream to cover it up? What BB Creams would you suggest to a teenager like me who would prefer a shine-free/matte complexion without looking like I have any makeup on?
    3. Do I need to buy a brush to blend in my BB Cream? What drugstore brushes do you recommend? (I don’t intend on spending a lot on makeup brushes.)

That was a lot. Thank you so much! <3

    • Hi Jessie,

      1. Looking back, I wish I would have bought better products when I first started. It’s always a risk buying low budget cosmetics, especially when you’re at an age when acne strikes. However, I don’t think you need to buy high-end ones either. Research products in advance, find out what forums and blogs are saying about them and go from there. Learn to check the ingredients list and choose anything only after you’ve tested the product for a few days.

      2. At your age, it’s not makeup that will give you a matte complexion, but a proper skin care regime, that you can follow rigorously to get rid of your acne and whiteheads. If you have serious skin issues, no BB Cream will resolve or hide it. See a dermatologist and treat your skin condition. That way, you won’t want or need to cover up your gorgeous young skin.

      3. To blend BB Creams, you only need your fingers, so no brushes will be needed. However, when you’ll be much older and will start using foundation (I started at 18 or smth like that), blush, powder etc my advice is that you invest in really good brushes, that won’t hurt your skin. Professional good brushes aren’t harsh to your skin, something that you need to take into consideration. However, they are pretty expensive..

That being said, best of luck! <3

  82. Fio

    Hi lusia,
i need your profession advice and help what kind of cream will best suit my oily to combination skin say a medium skin tone. i belong to india and want an spf in the cream you suggest.. my skin is also prone to acne..
i am looking out for something that is water based oil free and gives a natural glowing look to the skin at the same time hide the past acne blemishes..my skin tends to get darker over time as the day goes by. as my age is 36+ can you suggest an antiwrinkle cc or bb cream that would not aggrevate my acne, gives me a flawless bright glowing look throughout the day also looks natural..pls suggest

    • Hi, Fio,

So sorry Peter Thomas Roth isn’t available in India. I would have been great for you. Have you tried ordering it online? Here is that I suggest http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a4

If this isn’t an option for you, you can try Dior Diorsnow UV Shield BB Creme or Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream, an oil-free product with skin care benefits and anti-aging properties. These are available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream is a good bet, but Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream should be better for you. It has SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or skin type. I believe it to be a perfect choice for those with oily skin. You can find these here http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Best bet? Try getting your hands on Peter Thomas Roth. If you can’t find it, Shiseido or Kiehl’s should work for you. Go for testers first, then make your choice!

      Best of luck!

  83. Ines

    Hi, Luiza!

First of all, thanks for this.
I am 23 and have a light skin tone with pink cheeks. My skin is normal to dry – all dry in the winter – and I only use mosturizer daily and concealer to cover my dark circles, but I am looking to buy a BB cream. I just want a little coverage, to even my skin and help me with my dark circles, while also getting some SPF. Could you please give me some advice?

    • Hi, Ines!
There are a few great options out there for you and I personally applaud the idea of using a BB Cream with a touch of concealer. Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 is ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones.

If you are willing to invest more in better ingredients, then your first choice should be Chanel CC Cream, a product that caters to fair and sensitive skin, moisturizes, contains SPF 30 and PA++ and evens out imperfections.

You can find either one here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

      Take care!

  84. kat

    Hi Luiza,

This blog helps alot! thank you!^^ though I still have concerns. I have a really oily-sensitive skin, fair complexion, larged pores and dark spots what’s the best BB or CC cream should I use to cover them? and what to use if I want my face to look matte or a dewy, glowing skin without harming my skin and doesn’t leave a sticky feel or leaving some white patches? and if I have to use a make-up what’s the best product should I use?

    • Hi Kat,

Thanks for your feedback and please visit again soon :) Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 and Chanel CC Cream are good options. You can find them here http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

Also, you can try out the samples from Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream and Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream. Here is where you can find the later – http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

To answer your second question, I would have to recommend 2 types of foundations, one that provides a matte finish (i love Makeup Forever HD) and one that gives a dewy, glowing finish (MAC Face & Body). Have you tried either of these? Do they work for you?

  85. Linatha

This was an excellent, comprehensive article on BB and CC creams. I need your wisdom. I have medium cool-toned skin. Most of the BB and CC creams I come across have yellow or orange tones. Can you recommend a BB or CC cream for cool-toned (pinkish) skin?

  86. Diamond

From the article above I think BB is a good cream for every skin type but I need help I have an oily, sensitive skin and getting pimple is soo easy .my skin tone was like beyonce’s skin tone or but got sunburned and lost my beautiful complexion I’ve been trying lot of creams which gave me false hopes usually making my back darker than other parts,I really want my beautiful complexion back plss help I’m in Ghana

    • Hi Diamond,

My suggestion for you would be a BB that is good for oily skin, but also suited for sensitive skin. Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is the answer to all your questions, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

You can find it here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Hope it helps you achieve that beautiful complexion you had going on :)

  87. DiDi

Hi,Which bb or cc cream is best for an olive skin tone with oily skin and extremely sensitive, acne-prone skin which will make my complexion really nice and help maintain it

    • Hi Didi,

If you’re looking for a BB that is good for oily skin, but also suited for sensitive skin, Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is the answer to all your questions, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

Also, Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream has SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or skin type.

Try either of these to see which matches your skin tone better. You can find them here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

      Best of luck!

  88. Tanya

I am Vietnamese in mid 30s years old, I have medium skin tone. My skin looks very dull a & I have lots of pigments after have baby & cause I lazy wear Suncream. My skin looks very dry too, but when I touch it, my hand is oily. Could you please suggest any Bb/ CC/ DD cream which suit my skin. I live in Australia, it summer now, but winter will come soon. Which cream is best for each season or I can only use one type for both season. Thanks.

    • Hi Tanya,

My guess is you have combination skin, with mild imperfections, dark spots and dry patches of skin. You’ll need to use a right formula as to hydrate some areas and mattify others and most importantly, you’ll benefit from using a BB cream that has SPF.

The best options for you would be Dior Hydra Life BB Creme SPF 30 PA+++ if you’re looking for a product that provides full coverage. It’s one of the most pigmented of any I’ve sampled, but sadly, not the most suitable for pale skin, as it has an orange undertone. However, medium skin tones seeking to add warmth to their complexions will be most pleased with this product. This would be great during the summer :)

Among the best Blemish Balms ever is also the Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35, that comes in a variety of shades suited for fair, medium and dark skin. It provides a matte finish, and the texture is just right.

Fine either of them online, here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a2

      Hope you like them!

  89. sav

I have used physicians formula BB and avveno BB and liked them at first but after 30 minutes it look dry. I guess i have combination skin. Its dry but i do have some breakouts and hyperpigmontaion which goes away a bit after my breakout is going away. Do you think a CC would work better for me?? Or a different BB cream?? I wouldnt mind a matte look but i think im too dry for it so a luminous/moisturized look is ok, i like both looks

    • sav

Also im a nc15 for my color if that helps…but in summer i usually need to go a shade darker

    • Hi Sav,

Combination skin is the toughest :P You have to find a water based BB Cream/CC Cream or a silicone based foundation so that your skin looks matte on your T zone but you don’t want dry patches.

Since you’re looking for a BB Cream, I recommend Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream is an oil-free product with skin care benefits and anti-aging properties.

This would be perfect, and you can find it here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a9

Another great option, one of the best on the market if you ask me is Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream, an oil free product, packed with antioxidants (vitamins C, E, EGT, Eukarion) that tempers shine and moisturizes with hyaluronic acid.

This you can purchase from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

Really good options for you. Let me know which one you like best!

  90. Marijana

Hi Luiza! I have extremly sensitive rosacea skin with dry patches. Will Bioderma BB be good for me? I need something that will not dry out my skin. I am 33 years old. Could you please recomended any serum for my skin type? Thank you.

  91. taya

Thx for the amazing feedback. Like so many other readers, I am overwhelmed with the selection of BB/CC creams. I am a 30 yo African American with dark oily skin prone to breakouts and blemishes. I tried Maybelline, loved the look but broke out. From what I gather I should use a CC cream? Can you help me out…….

    • Hi Taya,

The thing with oily/acne prone skin is that you have to use well formulated products and keep an eye on the ingredients list in order to avoid those that cause break outs.

CC Creams are generally better for your skin type, however there are still plenty of BB Creams available for you that are better than Maybelline. Here are my suggestions:

Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum – review here: http://www.tinytouchups.com/peter-thomas-roth-cc-cream-review-10361/

Jane Iredale BB Cream – non-comedogenic product, excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin. It is available in six shades and had SPF 25. Order it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

Hope these work out for you!

  92. Lina

    Hi Luiza,

Thank you for posting this, it does help.
I’m gonna try Estee Lauder BB Cream the next time.
Currently I’m using Max Factor CC Cream which is surprisingly good, I actually like its dewy finish, but also tends to get my complexion more oily. I’m looking for a product with more matte finish.

  93. Chloe Nguyen

Your review of bb and cc cream was si helpful! I appreciate that. I have combination skin with very dry cheeks and oily skin in T section. I also have a little ance due to my period. I am wondering if Smashbox bb cream is a right one for my skin type?

    • Thanks, Chloe!

I find it very hard to recommend Smashbox ever since I’ve found out that there are so many mixed reviews about this. Your skin will either love it or hate it, so if you want to try it I recommend a sample first.

My recommendation for you skin type would be Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream – an oil-free product (good for oily skin) that provides an even tone, conceals pores and minimizes the appearance of imperfect, uneven skin.

If it’s in your price range, you should get it.

      Take care!

  94. sineetha

I am an India having medium dark complexion, acne pron skin. I need a cream which give me sunscreen protection and moisturisation & available in India. Please give your advise.

    • Hi Sineetha,

There are two great options for you out there:
Jane Iredale BB Cream has great coverage and leaves a dewy finish. It has SPF 25, is available in 6 shades and it’s great for sensitive or acne prone skin.

Another great choice is Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream, an oil free product, packed with antioxidants (vitamins C, E, EGT, Eukarion) that tempers shine and moisturizes with hyaluronic acid.

You can find either of them here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

      Hope you like them! :D

  95. Nazia

I live in Bangladesh (south est asia). I am 32 and complexion is medium. I have oily skin and have to travel everyday. Its to much humid nd hot weather here (35 degree celcious) and cause sweating.
which BB/CC cream do u recommend for oily, sweaty medium complexion skin in humid weather?

    • Hi, Nazia,

I’m not sure if I would recommend a BB/CC Cream if you live in a hot, humid environment. I would go for a mattifying foundation, that is good for oily skin. If you do want to use a BB/CC cream, I suggest you use powder on top, to keep shine at bay throughout the day.

You should try Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream, that has SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or skin type.

      Take care!

  96. joanna

Thankyou so much for the extensive information. Could you recommend which bb or cc cream is best for me? I have combination skin and i usually have breakouts on my t-zone. I live in a hot and humid environment so i need something which is light yet has a good coverage and doesnt melt under the sun. Oh and i also have tanned skin.

  97. Mag

Hi Luiza, I need to stay at least 4 hours in the pool and I don’t want fungus to attack my face, causing white spot, which my doctor mentioned before. I have a thought of applying bb cream or cc cream followed by sunblock. Can you advise a suitable type or you have any other suggestion for me. If using such cream, do I need to use makeup remover before cleansing?

    • Hi Mag,

First off, if you have sensitive skin and you are prone to breakouts, then I would suggest avoiding contact with the pool water. Using BB Creams is definitely a good idea, if you want a bit of coverage, otherwise, a sun protection cream with a minimum SPF would be fine.

If you decide to use sunblock and a bb cream, then you have to apply the sunblock first, wait a couple of minutes and then apply the BB Cream/ CC Cream/foundation.

I would recommend Boscia, Bioderma or Juice CC Cream. You can purchase and read more about these here, under the sensitive skin section: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a7

Lastly, depending on the type of cleanser you’re using, it might be able to remove makeup as well as sebum. Just to be safe, I would use a makeup remover first, followed by a cleanser suited to your skin type.

Take care and don’t hesitate to ask if you have any more questions. Hugs!

  98. mahak

Hii, I am from MEERUT,India .. I have very sensitive skin, not much oily , not too dry, the weather here is very hot, then my skin becomes oily, n when winters come, my skin become dry, what should I do, I am using , garnier BB cream! I am 19 years old, my complexion is medium indian skin tone , plz suggest me, which cream I should use bb/cc cream …

    • Hi Mahak,

If you are happy with Garnier BB Cream, I recommend you use it during the winter months, since it is more nourishing and switch when the weather gets hotter to a BB/CC Cream with more staying power, that won’t look cakey regardless of humidity.

I suggest Dr. Jart+ Renewalist BB Beauty Balm, a cream with niacinamide, that can increase the skin’s production of ceramides and essential fatty acids, thus calming inflammation and sensitive skin or Boscia BB Cream.

Another great choice for you during the summer would be BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream is another anti-oxidant, anti-aging and nourishing BB cream with nutrition from deep ocean water and flower extracts. It absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells. You can find it here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Hope these work for you.Take care!

  99. nikitha s

Hiee Luiza…the review above was great. Though I need a lil help . I hav wheatish complexion that tans fast, acne prone skin and its oily. What wud u recommend for such a skin type :) :)

    • Hi Nikitha and thanks! There are some very good choices available for you. The best that is good for oily skin, but also suited for sensitive skin is Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection. It has SPF 50, it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin.

Another good pick would be Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream. It has SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or skin type.

You can find them here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

      Take care! Hugs

  100. Van nguyen

    Hi Luiza!
I’m looking for a CC or BB cream for my acne skin. I’ve tried a lot of products to fix my skin but they didn’t help. Could you recommend any products to help my acne skin? im trying to look for a BB or CC cream to cover it. I dont know if CC or Bb cream helps. Please give me a solution. Thank you!

    • Hi!
Think of BB and CC Creams as lighter coverage foundations. They can control shine and prevent break outs, yet achieving a full coverage is not their purpose.

The most pigmented I’ve ever sampled is Dior Hydra Life BB Creme SPF 30 PA+++ , but sadly, it’s not the most suitable for pale skin, as it has an orange undertone. If you have a medium skin tone and you are seeking to add warmth to your complexions, you should try it. You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a2

You can also try Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream, a medium coverage formula, that promises to even out skin tone in four weeks or Clinique Age Defense BB Cream which helps control oil production, covers fine lines and minor blemishes, but not serious discoloration.
There you can find here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

      Hope these work for you!

  101. Nayla

    Hello,

I have a fair skin and my pores get clogged very easily causing break out. I’m only allowed to use water based products. What would be the best BB cream for me that doesn’t block my pores, yet gives a good coverage?

    Thanks!

    • Hi!
Your first choice should be Chanel CC Cream, a product caters to fair and sensitive skin, with cornflower water formula, hyaluronic acid and SPF 30 PA++. It evens out imperfections and doesn’t clog pores.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 would also be nice. Water based, good coverage and perfect for fair complexions.
You can purchase either one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

  102. ANNE

Hi Luiza, I find really helpful about your review. Thanks much for the information.

May I ask what will you recommend for my acne prone and oily skin? I used Power Perfection of FACESHOP for about 6-8months well I can say this product was good. But I decided to switched to another “better” BB Cream. I bought Missha BB Cream last month and I’m really disappointed, got oily skin and breakouts. :-( I’m thinking if I have to use again the FACESHOP Power perfection product. What do you think? I’m from Philippines the weather is so hot. Thank you in advance.

    • Hi Anne,

If you’re also looking for better coverage, I suggest Dior Hydra Life BB Creme SPF 30 PA+++ .If you have a medium skin tone and you are seeking to add warmth to your complexions, you should try it. You can purchase it from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a2

You can also try Vichy ProEVEN mineral BB Cream, a medium coverage formula, that promises to even out skin tone in four weeks or Clinique Age Defense BB Cream which helps control oil production, covers fine lines and minor blemishes, but not serious discoloration.
There you can find here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

      Hope these help you out!

    Hi Luiza,
This article was very helpful but I am still not sure what BB or CC cream is perfect for me. I am African American, 19 with a combination skin not too oily or too dry. I have a medium to dark skin tone, discoloration and dark spots (due to acne or acne scarring). I want full coverage for days I don’t want to wear make up that can last all day without becoming oily looking. I live in Houston so its humid and hot.
Do I moisturize my skin before applying BB/CC cream?
Can I apply make up (concealer, foundation, powder) on top of the BB/CC cream?
Mainly need something to help even my skin over time(help with the discoloration) and remove darkspots.
Thank you for your time :)

    • Hi Bibi,
BB and CC Creams are not skin treatments, so think of them as lighter foundations. If you are already happy with your foundation – which offers more coverage and controls oil production better than any BB/CC Cream would, then I don’t see why you should change your makeup routine.

Just please keep in mind that you should always apply a sunscreen before your foundation, to prevent more dark spots. That means every day, regardless if it’s sunny or not.

If you need help evening your discoloration, you should try a skin care routine with kojic acid, an ingredient that lightens dark spots. Read more about the subject here: http://www.tinytouchups.com/kojic-acid-treatment-dark-spots-acne-freckles-10148/ and if you have any questions, you can post them in the comment section from that article.

      Hugs!

    Hi,
I have combination pale skin that is blemished, I’m looking for a BB cream to wear on holiday to Floria as I feel wearing a foundation is not appropriate due to the heat and I feel more secure with some coverage. Which BB Cream do you suggest would work best for me?!
    Thanks!
    Laura

  105. Laura

    Hi again,
Also could you recommend some treatments suitable towards my skin type (oily around t-zone) yet dry in some areas all over ( mainly chin and cheeks) , can you recommend any foundations to wear too for I can never find one that gives me the coverage I want that doesn’t make my skin look flaky and that is not too orange for my place complexion?!
    Thanks :)
    Laura

    • Hi Laura,

Sorry I couldn’t get back to you sooner :) There are plenty of great options for you out there. Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 is one of the most compatible tone to pale skin. Its corrective tone counteracts blemishes and redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones. It leaves a dewy finish and soothes the skin thanks to its water-based formula. So it won’t make you break out.

Even better than Dr. Jart+ is Chanel CC Cream, a product that caters to fair and sensitive skin, has a cornflower water formula, moisturizes with the help of hyaluronic acid, contains SPF 30 and PA++ and evens out imperfections.

Both are good options is you’re living in humid areas and both have SPF. Yaaay! :) You can order them from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

      • Generally speaking, if you have combination skin (oily on the T zone and dry on the rest of the face) you need to address both issues with different products. Try a cleansing gel for oily and combination skin (I use Avene Soapless Gel or Bioderma), tone your skin with witch hazel water (which is good for all types of skin, including oily, dry and sensitive) and use a light moisturizer.

Look for silicone based foundations, that prevent excess oil build up on the T zone and don’t highlight dry patches of skin that you might have. Makeup Forever HD foundation is great and available in lots of shades :)

        Take care!

    Hi Luiza
Your post was very helpful and informative and is definitely getting me excited to try out some bb creams. I was just wondering what you would personally recommend for my specific skin. I am Indian and I have medium/light brown skin so a product with some brown shades would be perfect. I have oily, acne prone skin. Thankfully most of my acne has cleared up but has left behind some hyperigmentation that I’m trying to cover up. The reason I’m not considering foundation and instead a bb cream is I am student in Texas, and with a busy schedule and warm weather I want something that will give me breathable, skin benifiting, natural looking skin. And also love the way it protects, hydrates and moisturizers skin. What I’m looking for is a bb cream with good coverage for my acne scars, evens skin tone with matte finish, not too heavy on my skin, lasts all day and doesn’t make my face a big oily mess.
I would really appreciate your help.

    Sincerely, Sam

P.s. Is it necessary to wear a loose setting powder after applying bb cream or can you just wear bb cream?

  108. Elena

    Hi Luiza,
You’ve been very helpful with your reviews and all, but I am still in doubt choosing the right product for my skin. I’m 19 years old and I have a combination skin. Therefore blackheads on the T zone ( not as much on the forehead or the chin, but mainly nose area) and the T zone shines through the day, meanwhile the cheeks are pure with small pores except I’ve noticed my skin is slightly sensitive. Well I really need a light coverage through the day that controls the oiliness of my skin but also protects it, moisturize it,cover the imperfections . I’m looking for a CC cream and I hope you can advise me on that.

Thank you for your time and patience:)

  109. Elena

    Hi Luiza,

Your website is great, and your reviews are very helpful but I have a few questions. First of all I’ve been meaning to buy a CC cream for my skin type, that is the combination one. I have problems with blackheads on the T zone (not so much on the forehead or the chin, but mainly on the nose area), and the T zone shines through the day. On the other hand my cheeks are soft, with clean small pores. So I’m having a lot of trouble to find the cream that cover my imperfections, but also hydrates, protects the skin and it is not so heavy on it. S

    Thank you for your time:)

    • Hi Elena,

Since you don’t have any blemishes or pigmentation to cover up, the best advice I can give you is to pay a visit to a dermatologist so that he/she can prescribe something to help you get rid of those blackheads. A skin care regimen will totally fix that issue, as well as help you prevent oil build up.

I recommend that since a makeup product would have to be pretty pigmented to hide blackheads and if you only have this problem on you nose and the rest of your skin is clear, it would really be a shame to hide it under makeup and not treat the real problem.

If you do want a suggestion, Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections.

You can find it here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Hope you make the right decision.Take care!

  110. Kirrat

Hey luiza i cant seem to figure out which one is good for me i am oily in my tzone nd the rest is just normal nd i dnt want to break out i dnt want something greasy more on the mat side nd medium to full coverage ive tryed many bb creams nd they just dont work for me plzz help thank you soo much

    • Hi Kirrat,
Honestly, if you’ve had your fair share of trial and errors with BB Creams, maybe these types of products are just not made for you. If you’re looking for a matte finish and you have oily skin, the best you’re going to find are BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream, Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection and Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream. You can read more about them and order one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

They won’t make you break out, however they will never cover imperfections as good as a foundation. If you’re willing to give them a shot..best of luck :)

  111. Arafah

I’ve used the Maybelline dream fresh bb cream but i didn’t like how it felt and looked on my skin. Which other drugstore bb cream can you recommend that looks and feels smooth on my skin and finds blemishes. I have medium coloured, dry skin . I was thinking maybe the garnier one but i don’t know. Also do i need to prime my face before applying bb cream and is setting it with a powder necessary?

    • Hi Arafah,

I actually love the Garnier one, it has to be the best drugstore BB Cream I’ve ever used. Because these types of products are so nurturing, a primer isn’t needed. You can use a moisturizer with SPF in the mornings, wait about 5-10 minutes and apply the BB Cream. If it looks too oily and you don’t like the finish, you can powder it, but if the finish is right for you, there’s no need to put more makeup on. For instance, I don’t need to apply powder after using Garnier.

  112. prakriti

Hi.i am 24 years and have an oily and acne prone skin.i have a medium complexion and I stay in india.accordingly pls suggest me the suitable bb and cc cream.

  113. Raisham

    Hi Luiza,

I am 18 years old from Pakistan and i have hyperpigmentation spots from acne, primarily my cheeks and chin. They are very tiny but quite dark. Also my face is oily on my T-zone and i have very dark eye circles. My complexion is medium, currently i wear the L’oreal Paris True Match Foundation in W3. I am tired of foundations and would really like to try out a BB cream that provides coverage and treats at the same time. What would you recommend, please and thank you! Oh and I just love this website, you have some really great beauty pieces, keep up the good work! :)

    • Hi Raisham,

Although BB and CC Creams can offer nutrients and hydrate your skin, they are not treatments, but makeup products. If you want to treat hyper pigmentation spots, I suggest using a Kojic Acid soap and moisturizer. Here you can learn more about them and order them online: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/kojic-acid-creams-soaps/

To prevent excess oil build up on your face and help exfoliate the skin with dark spots, I recommend BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream. It absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

Other great options are Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection (medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots) or Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream (SPF 50 and a lightweight formula that stays on for hours, regardless of hot weather or skin type).

You can order them from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5

Thanks for the feedback and please visit again soon. Take care!

  114. Shakuntala

This was very helpful. I have semi-tanned, dry, sensitive skin. The foundation I tried made me break out so easily! I was thinking of trying out the Smashbox Bb cream. Is that a viable option?

    • Hi Shakuntala,

Technically it should be, however Smashbox has both very positive and some very negative reviews. If you break out easily, I suggest Diorskin Nude BB Creme (Glycerin, Mallow extract, Hibiscus Extract, Flaxseed extract, green tea leaf extract, rooibos leaf extract etc). It acts as a moisturizer and a corrector, it smoothes and protects skin, while offering medium coverage with a dewy, glowing finish.

Also, Boscia BB Cream reduces redness with jojoba leaf and willow herb extract, has a light formula that gives a youthful glow, evens out skin tone and is least likely to trigger breackouts.

You can order them from this website: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a8

      Take care!

  115. sav

Id have to say my skin differs in the winter and summer months. In the winter my skin is more dry and i have breakouts. In the summers im oily with breakouts. So ill need to switch it up for those time, what would you suggest? Im ok with light coverage as long as i can build when needed in areas. Im ok with think products also as long as it doesnt feel or look heavy. My face is somewhat sensitive

    • sav

You had already gave me some ideas for my winter skin. And here soon i will be trying them our. Now to get something to try for during the more oily time. My forehead and nose get the most oily but breakout are also in the jawline area.

      • Hi Sav,
To control excess oil on your T zone during warmer months, you can try Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, a fragrance free, oil control product, that doesn’t leave a chalky finish and actualy claims it improves skin moisture in four weeks. It won’t break you out and it has skin tone correcting ingredients (malic acid, AHA, caffeine) and mineral pigments that provide buildable coverage.

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream is another option that caters to oily and acne prone skin, as well as sensitive skin. Its formula is fragrance free, it contains antioxidants, covers imperfections and has a brightening effect on the skin.

Jane Iredale BB Cream also works well for those looking for a non-comedogenic product, excellent for sensitive or acne prone skin. It is available in six shades and had SPF 25. This option is great if you have a tan or a darker skin tone.

You can order each of them from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6
        Take care!

  116. mayada

Hi liza I found this article very usful and helpful for me.but I still confused as I need to kniw what type of cc cream should I use I have a white color with a sensitve combined skin also I have dark circles and a pale skin would u pls help me .

    • mayada

I need to add that im 30 years and I need a fresh look .should I use any other cosmatic products after the cc cream?

      • Hi Mayada,
If you’re seeking a CC Cream suitable for sensitive, pale skin, then your first choice should be Chanel CC Cream, a product that contains cornflower water formula, moisturizes with the help of hyaluronic acid, contains SPF 30 and PA++ and evens out imperfections.
Another great option is Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25, one of the most compatible tone to pale skin. Its corrective tone counteracts blemishes and redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pink undertones. It leaves a dewy finish and soothes the skin thanks to its water-based formula.
You can find them here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

If you have dark under eye shadows, a BB Cream or a CC Cream might not be enough to camouflage them. Invest in an under-eye concealer that is good for you. Find a list of my favorites here: http://www.tinytouchups.com/under-eye-concealers-10686/

        Take care!

    • Hi Kalyani,
Depending on your skin tone, you should try BRTC Aqua Rush Water Drop BB Cream an anti-oxidant, anti-aging and nourishing BB cream with nutrition from deep ocean water and flower extracts. It absorbs and retains moisture, provides excellent coverage and uses AHA and BHA to exfoliate dead skin cells.

      OR

If you’re looking for a BB that is good for oily skin, but also suited for sensitive skin, Diorsnow BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection is the answer to all your questions, as it provides a medium coverage, evens the complexion and brightens the skin by reducing the appearance of dark spots.

      OR

Lorac CC Color Correcting Cream provides buildable coverage and hides all imperfections thanks to its specially-tinted green and yellow pigments that corrects redness. Lorac’s CC cream is oil, silicone, paraben and fragrance free and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

It leaves a natural looking, flawless and semi matte finish, while at the same time nourishing your skin with moisturizing ingredients and antioxidants like vitamins A, C & E, aloe, chamomile, calendula, white peony, green and white tea.

You can order each one from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a5
Hope these help you out! :)

  118. Amy

    Hi Luiza,
I have a oily t zone in winter n oily face in summer, i used to have a pimples in my teen age , now m mother of one n have spots/scars on my cheek, after pregnancy my spots become more visible n i also have a uner eye dark circle (medium), m 29 y o. I have white heads around my nose n my skin tone is medium to fair. ( dont know if i shoul say my skin is acne prone skin). I havnt used any bb or cc cream till date, so this is the first time m going yo buy it so plzzz suggest me a good bb/cc cream. I wear foundaion ( estee lauder) occationally or estee lauder compact …thanks…

    • Hi Amy,
Pregnancy usually aggravates dark spots, because of hormonal changes so my first recommendation would be to use a skin care regimen to get rid of those. Kojic Acid is one of the best ingredients to alleviate this skin condition and I’ve posted an article on the best Kojic Acid soaps and creams. Read more about them here: http://www.tinytouchups.com/kojic-acid-treatment-dark-spots-acne-freckles-10148/

Estee Lauder has some pretty good foundations, but I’m guessing you are looking for something that evens out the skin tone, for daily use. A BB / CC Cream is a good option. I suggest you try:

Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Cream, an oil free product, packed with antioxidants (vitamins C, E, EGT, Eukarion) that tempers shine and moisturizes with hyaluronic acid.

      OR

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream is another option that caters to oily and acne prone skin, as well as sensitive skin. Its formula is fragrance free, it contains antioxidants, covers imperfections and has a brightening effect on the skin. This Blemish Balm contains caffeine to soften lines and vitamin E and seaweed extract to control oil production, which will help your makeup stay on longer. The mineral pigments will cover fine lines and minor blemishes, but they’re not enough for serious discoloration.

Order them online from here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a6

If you’re seeking a CC Cream that also has these qualities and is suitable for pale skin, then your first choice should be Chanel CC Cream, a product that caters to fair and sensitive skin, moisturizes with the help of hyaluronic acid, contains SPF 30 and PA++ and evens out imperfections.

      This is available here: http://www.tinymakeupkit.org/bb-cc-cream/#a3

To hide your under eye circles and blemishes, you don’t need a full coverage foundation. You can use a light BB/CC Cream, a full cover concealer used only on problem areas (my top picks here: http://www.tinytouchups.com/makeup-concealers-9972/) and an under-eye concealer (my favorite products here: http://www.tinytouchups.com/under-eye-concealers-10686/).
Hope this answers your questions :) Take care!
